I truly regret having to leave a bad review, however this place was absolutely horrible in so many ways that I must give all potential customers fair warning…
Let us begin with the server. She comes to the table with that infamous mopey look and swagger as if she was just repulsed at even having to be at work today. I ordered a carafe of wine (Lolo Malbec) yet she brings me a glass. No big deal right, however when I point it out it’s followed by sighs as if I’m the problem. So she brings me the carafe shortly thereafter, yet half full because of course I already have a glass in front of me. Okay, so you’re incompetent, repulsed by having to be at work, and cheap all in one. I can live with it though… just wait it gets worse.
Moving on now to the cook/chef. My guest orders the pretzel bites with fond cheese. The cheese is cold, so cold and sitting so long that a film has set upon the top. The cheese curds within the dip have set so long that they’ve all but built a permanent tent city within. In fact, you would’ve needed a sledgehammer just to get through the hardened film (outer coating) just to dip the pretzel bites. It’s hard to believe but the worst has yet to come. I ordered the Mahi Mahi. Upon cutting into the filet I noticed the inner core was completely raw. Yes… completely raw, fleshy, and runny. It was literally Salmonella on a plate. No thank you. I kindly requested the manager come to my table.
Now finally… the fabulous Manager. Not sure her exact name because after only a few minutes I wanted her as far away from me as humanly possible. Nevermind the waitress or even the amateur cook for a minute. When the Manager came to the table I did nothing but point to the open Mahi filet and she immediately said “Oh wow, I’m sorry.” I responded with “it is what it is, if you could just bring me my check that’d be great.” This Manager then had the audacity to begin lecturing me about how food preparation was not a perfect science that I should keep that in mind when calling for management. Wow…. So it’s my fault lol.
Keep the money, ignore my concern, and go on as if it never happened. Great policy! Note to all those in the New Buffalo area… do not waste your time or risk your mental or physical health visiting this restaurant. You’d be better off eating four day old chicken livers at the Chicken Coop...

Right on the main drag of downtown New Buffalo, MI this joint has some fantastic untraditional dishes in this traditional pub. They have outdoor seating in the “Back Yard” as well as an outdoor bar. They have probably the largest selection of local craft beer & the wine list is also a big draw.
We had a group and did a lot of sharing.
We started off with the Asian Chopped Salad with grilled shrimp. The Asian sesame dressing is slightly salty, so when you bite into one of those juicy sweet mandarin oranges, your mouth is singing. Plump grilled shrimp were a perfect add-on; however, chicken or salmon is also available as options on all six of their specialty salads.
The freshness of ingredients was very evident in the fish tacos. I’m a HUGE fan of fish tacos, and these are my new favorites in Southwest Michigan. The Napa cabbage cilantro slaw was very crunchy and the Pico de Gallo was equally fresh. Nestled into this goodness was grilled salmon that was moist and flaky and perfectly seasoned on the grill. The dish called Mike’s Tacos features three large tacos, and yet they call it an “appetizer!” I’d call it my next meal!
Liz brought us some Boom Boom shrimp which were plump, crispy and just the right amount of heat in the sauce. We chowed on these!
What pub would be complete without an amazing burger? I almost dropped my camera when they brought out Casey’s Original burger with bacon and Mac & Cheese added. The cavatappi (Italian for corkscrew) noodles held the three-cheese blend atop the certified prime grade beef patty. OMG!...and “G” stands for GOODNESS.
We were stuffed at this point, but we had one more dish we just had to try. Chef Mike prepared one of the best steaks I’ve had in Southwest Michigan. It was so tender and juicy with just a whisper of seasonings and char, letting the Angus beef flavor do most of the talking.
We left there feeling shamefully satisfied and really feeling like we had made some new friends. You should try Casey’s in...
Read moreThis was a fun place to experience, and the bartenders in the back patio were great. We went straight back to the patio once we got there and ordered a couple of drinks at the back bar, and then we sat at one of the high top tables on the patio to drink them. While we were sitting there discussing if we wanted to order some appetizers my boyfriend went to ask for a menu from the hostess up front and before he could even speak the hostess told him the tables outside were for people getting food only which was kind of annoying considering he was coming to ask for a menu, there were tons of empty tables still in the back, and the bar was full so what were we supposed to do anyways just stand there awkwardly and drink our drinks? I thought that was quite rude, especially because it wasn't like we hadn't purchased anything, plus we ordered a couple more drinks after we sat down. Not to mention when we sat down we were expecting a server to offer us a menu to look over but no one did for the first 10-15 mins that we were sitting there, so im not sure how she even expected us to order food at that time. We did end up purchasing a couple of different appetizers after a server came up to us when she saw we had a menu. We got the chips and dip and the cheese curds cause we weren't super hungry at the time. Both were delicious, but the cheese curds were definitely my favorite! Our waitress was great and had a great attitude towards us, so it made up for the negativity that came from the hostess upfront. I would definitely visit this place again based on the waitress, food,...
