I'm writing this as I travel and try other restaurants. We ate at a place this evening in California that was incredible. The person who lives in California whom we are visiting tell us, "everything on the menu is great, except for the Reuben....because once you've had a Reuben from David's Deli, there is no point having one anywhere else."
That encapsulates my experience at David's from several years previous to this year. I never liked a reuben until David's converted me. From that momentous occasion I have probably had one hundred other sandwiches which have always been perfect.
Emma and Joe, the owners, are the type of owners you would hope for in any delicatessen. They are friendly and courteous to the customer's needs. I've never heard a bad word about them or David's in the area, but only the best. If you're visiting the area, you must go to David's. It is on the top of my list of recommendations for the area of Southwest Michigan.
The coffee is always great and so is the cold brew. My wife is very particular and this is the only restaurant around that she gets excited to go to.
I'm ashamed it has taken me this long to leave them a review. They receive my highest praise, and since I've tried sandwiches in many fun restaurants around the country, I can easily say that this is the best one still....
Read moreAt first my husband and I were a bit shocked at the $8 dollar price point for a basic sandwich. After eating it, we agree and get the high cost. The bread tastes so incredibly fresh. The meat was piled on so thick and the veggies tasted extremely fresh too. You also get a side and a pickle spear with your sandwich. Our sandwich was ham on white bread with provolone, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and onion, with mayo and mustard. Our only sandwich complaint was that it was a bit dry for our liking. A bit more condiments would have been nice. We chose the coleslaw for the side, it was very fresh and delicious, and I'm not a slaw kind of person. The poppy seeds in it was a different touch. The pickle was nice. Overall, we will definitely be back to enjoy a shared light lunch. They also have a small tap water spigot and cups, I thought that was...
Read moreI'm such a fan of David's Deli that I'm not sure I would know what to do with myself if they were not part of the New Buffalo community. I was certainly worried for them as COVID came into the picture. But they have pivoted to the point where I think they actually got better. Even during the full shutdown they were offering some of the most inventive and delicious shopping carts full of fresh local foods. They have the best brewed coffee within 20 miles. Their sandwiches are inventive and loaded with fresh vegetables. And the breakfast sandwiches are simply a fastball down the middle. I just finished off one of their daily vegetable sandwiches. It was inventive and so delicious I had to give them...
