Rosie's Restaurant — Restaurant in New Buffalo

On first glance it was just another mom and pop shop in the small town of new buffalo Michigan, upon further review it is so much more than that. You walk through 2 sets of doors, which is a little overkill, and you’re welcomed by smiling faces of the staff and everyday regulars. We sat down and immediately our server came to us and asked for drinks we took water and the busser brought us our cups. The menu was a small but at the same time sufficiently large enough to supply many options. We both agreed upon the double bacon burger which is 2/3 pounds of meat per entree and only costing 8.25 a person! Short wait later we are both presented with this massive burger and plate of golden brown, yet juicy, fries. Along with that the burger came with a mountain of pickles, lettuce, tomato, onions, and 3 packets of condiments including mayonnaise, and mustard. The first bite was like a trip to flavor town juice running down my cheek, this burger isn’t for the faint of heart. It was the best tasting burger north of the Indiana border and I intend on going back. The fries were far from dry but added a good contrast to the rest of the dish, and the bacon cooked to perfection on top of that they gave a hefty portion of it. Now at this point everything was good until the waitress told us cash only, no signs, she didn’t warn us beforehand but waited until we had finished. At this point I had to walk about a quarter mile through their construction zone pay $2 for atm fees and walk back just to pay for my meal. Every year around Christmas my family drives from Kansas City to the Chicagoland Area to celebrate with family all over the region. One day on the trip my family gets together with family from Three Rivers and Indy. This year there was 18 of us. We always meet at Rosie's!!! They gave us our own room with plenty of space to exchange gifts and visit for several hours. The food is great! The service is super! They go out of the way to make sure we have an excellent time. I wish I would have thought to take pics. First we received two order of blueberry pancakes when my daughters ordered buttermilk. A simple mistake until the waiter tried to convince me my daughter who has never in her life ordered blueberry, ordered blueberry. I ordered over medium eggs which came to the table over cooked on the outside and under cooked egg whites on the inside. The “chipped beef” tasted gamey and was not good as all. Maybe it came out of a can? The vibe was off and the worst part we got a $46 bill for a $20 meal....
