I was extremely disappointed in my experience at Hanna’s today. My family was excited upon our arrival as the place was so neat and offered so many yummy options for all of my family. My husband has a special diet and he can only eat certain things. We were quickly turned off after a gentleman entered after us without a mask on, ordered, paid and was never told he needed to put a mask on. There was a note on the entrance door clearly indicating a mask was necessary to enter, but this gentleman did not seem to care. I do not fault the young employees for not feeling comfortable asking him to put a mask on, however it appeared the owner came out and was speaking with the gentleman at the counter and never mentioned a mask to him. This was completely unacceptable. Wearing a mask in PA is mandatory and should not be negotiable. Period. We are living in a pandemic with a deadly virus spreading rapidly. Our family tries to support small/local shops and businesses. This man’s behavior was endangering to my family (and everyone near him). Additionally, it was selfish and disgusting. We will not support places that are not following the safety guidelines outlined and the laws. We will not return to Hanna’s after this experience. I hope you start enforcing the mask policy moving forward and no one is infected from this type of negligence. We, of course, left immediately and did not purchase anything from...
Read moreQuite possibly the worst ice cream I've ever had. I ordered a small Appalachian Trail ice cream which, by description, is coffee ice cream with toffee and a chocolate swirl. I'm guessing the maker of this ice cream has never had coffee before because it certainly didn't taste anything like coffee. There was also no toffee in the ice cream. I only ate two of three bites and had to throw it away because it tasted so horrible. I went up to the counter to ask if I could try a sample of the cookies and cream; I figure you can't go wrong with something so classic but boy was I wrong. Equally bad ice cream but this one had a nice layer of ice crystals on it. I didn't expect to get anything for free or our money refunded but the girls in the shop had no clue how to address this situation and just laughed. I will never go back to this ice cream shop due to how terrible the actual ice cream is and bc of how bad the customer service was. Very...

A visit to Hanna's is a sensory experience of stepping back in time and enjoying the sights, sounds, feel and tastes of a beloved time in America that is no more.
To be honest, Hanna's is in need of some organizing of it's fantastic collection and a little more design detail to make it's treasures "pop." But even if never happens, that is okay... When you walk in the door you can feel the love ...and the ice cream is cold and delicious. When visiting New Cumberland, Hanna's Ice Cream Shoppe is not to be missed!
