"Don't come again if you don't like my service"
Any restaurant whose waitress turns aways customers rudely and repeatedly (see other complaints below) and whose owner fails to take action upon complaints is doomed for failure.
Background: I used to visit this restaurant with a good friend of mine at least once per week.
Incident: We were displeased with the subpar service of one particular waitress at Ricepot but we tolerated it for a few weeks. When we visited Rice Pot in early October (one Wednesday dinner), the rude waitress did not refill our water -- she deliberately avoided our table twice for no reason. Unhappy with the terrible treatment, I wrote on my bill after leaving a 15% tip: "Your food is wonderful and I hope you can improve your service to make this a truly outstanding restaurant."
My friend visited Rice Pot with her friends on Nov 2 and was served by a different waiter. That same waitress went up to my friend to ask her to deliver a message to "your friend who left me a message last time." The waitress told my friend to inform me that it would be totally fine if I did not want to return to Rice Pot.
Outcome: Complaints, initially acknowledged by the owner Jaruch, have not been answered to date. And I vote with my feet. In my remaining years, I never visited Rice Pot again. All except this waitress were terrific in this...
Read moreWent for lunch. It was really good, quiet, the people were nice, and good value. I got lunch special #1, my boyfriend got #2. We shared Thai dumplings, and got drinks: iced tea and Thai iced tea, with tax & 20%tip: $53.
The lunch box was good, Pad Thai was perfect. Chicken satay was tasty & hot, great peanut sauce-sweet, salty, spicy, creamy. I had never had Cashew shrimp before, it had a little kick (but I'm white and I like spice, but can't handle it. So if you like spice, ask them to bump it up a bit). They served it in a large lunch box with a big chunk of apple. It really was asking for rice. I will forego the appetizer and get a side of rice next time. I left full, it was well proportioned. My boyfriend took some pad thai home. His ginger chicken looked good, his veggie rolls were hot and crunchy, he also liked the pad thai, and when he asked for no onions and no scallions it was not a problem. His stuff arrived as requested, which is often an issue in most restaurants. The staff was super nice, they gave use fried wontons with sweet chili dipping sauce to start, and we're on top of water refills. It was hot and I was thirsty, so I probably had 5 glasses of water plus my tea. We...

I was on my way from Boston and wanted to stop and eat at some place in New Haven close to the state highway (I-95). I found this place on Yelp and decided to stall here.
DECOR: Its a small and very simple place but quite clean. Even the women's toilet was clean.
FOOD: Ordered the Tom Kha Gai soup, fish cakes, drunken noodles and fried ice cream. The food was extremely delicious and I can't stop thinking about this place each time I crave for Thai food. Everything we ordered did not disappointment at all. I had read the reviews for drunken noodles mentioning that it is very spicy. So I had ordered less spicy. But it was so sweet and the taste of fennel was over powering. Next time you order Drunken Noodles, please let them recommend the spice level. The fried ice cream was super delicious. It is absolutely different from the regular fried ice creams that you may get else where. The coating was soft (unlike the crispy cornflakes coating) with vanilla ice cream inside. You have to try this to experience the taste.
SERVICE: The food came within 15 mins from the time we ordered. The waitress was polite.
