The younger lady who was our waitress was very nice and attentive, but the older women working here definitely had a judgmental and racist air to them. We were pushed to the counter and shortly told to checkout by a woman who had otherwise not interacted with us at all. Mind you, we were already standing there waiting for our friend to finish paying. It seemed like they wanted us out of sight as quick as possible. And the woman at the checkout counter could not muster any sort of friendliness. I asked if I could keep the handwritten receipt because I found it charming (I told her this) and wanted to have a keepsake but she insisted they must keep it and that I “could have this one” (…wow, thanks) and handed me the printed receipt. Weird. Why are you required to keep that specific receipt when you must get hundreds of them a week? You hoard all of them, forever? It felt unnecessarily frigid, especially for a place that’s called “country charm”. Couldn’t even get fake niceties, not a hint of a smile or a kind look in the eyes. The employees at Waffle House, notorious for their violence, are a million times more friendly. We watched the woman who pushed us to the counter interact with a white customer she didn’t remember who had not paid his bill from the day before (heard from their conversation) in a much more warm and friendly manner. Looking around at the people who were eating there it did not attract a diverse crowd at all and it seems they intend to keep it that way. If nobody in the establishment is racist, then don’t act so cold towards minority customers and rush us out the door. What else are...
Read moreWas in town for a family function and came here for a late breakfast/early brunch. Be aware if trying to avoid crowds, as this place was very crowded and workers don’t wear masks properly. It actually made me excited to see such a crowd thinking this place must have good food. I actually tried to place a to-go order but no one answered their phone and there’s not an option to order online. I wasn’t time constrained so didn’t mind ordering at the restaurant and figured they must have been super busy. I’ve never ate here so it was confusing to enter and park in what apparently was their back lot. I wish there would have been signs of where the main entrance was located so I could have avoided being in the way of their employee entrances. As for the food, I had ordered the bacon avocado omelette with a side of sausage links and my SO had their Monte Cristo with a side of hash browns. The food was okay and may have been better eating it freshly made instead of taking it back to our hotel. My omelette had avocados cut into large slices but little bacon pieces. The hash browns were actually more like scalloped potatoes and not crispy at all. However, portion sizes were very good and their prices were great. Would recommend if needing a homemade meal for about the same cost of a value meal at Culver’s...
Read moreWe were welcomed by a very friendly staff after what was a bit of a rough day, so that automatically earned four stars from me. Even the patrons were nice, as one held the door open for me so I could wheel myself in on my wheelchair. It might not seem like much to some people, but it made me more comfortable being there. It was our first time trying their food, which was amazing btw. All of their staff was friendly, and our waitress Cathy was on the ball. She had refills ready before our drinks ran all the way out and without us having to ask. I couldn't believe the prices. For what we paid, I expected small portions, but they definitely do not skimp on the food. And the chefs really know how to cook. The split pea soup was my favorite, though the black and bleu burger was a close runner up. My friend ordered breakfast, and she said the biscuits and gravy AND the fritta skillet were amazing. All in all, I found this to be the perfect place to eat, with its homey atmosphere, friendly staff,...
