We live close by this place, so tonight we dined in, but we usually carry out. We have given up on carryout from this place. We have ordered a few times recently, and the food is pretty good--but you have to be willing to deal with the jerk behind the counter, who I believe is actually the owner. Which is absurd because he is extremely rude, and dismissive. They never get the pickup orders right. For carry out, I place the order over the phone, and when we go to pick it up, every time they have either forgotten to make something, one of the pizzas just "vanished"-- when that happened they blamed it on a customer, saying "that customer took your pizza." (Um...ok, should I go chase after him or something? Make me what I'm paying for, please.) Tonight, while eating, I witnessed him tell someone coming in for pickup that they hadn't placed an order. But then- surprise! He actually wasn't listening to the customer, and the order was right there. AND THEN HE SCOFFED AT THE MAN BECAUSE IT "WAS ONLY A $46.00 ORDER." This place has no respect for the customer, and how dare any business person scoff at anyone for "only" spending $50 of their hard-earned money?!
As for atmosphere--i would call this atmosphere "PTSD fast food" --- listening to a man yelling at and belittling his customer while sitting at tiny tables in a run down old house with a view of run down buildings, pavement, and a traffic light.
Again the food ain't bad, but everything else, especially the customer service, is awful. Don't bother wasting your money, because it won't be appreciated, and don't bother ordering ahead because they will have to make it when you get there anyways. And the owner will then yell at you for it.
Try instead the place nearby that welcomes you, thanks you, and gives you a free slice of pizza while you wait. I would name drop but I'm afraid it will get this review disqualified and I want people to be aware of just how awful the service is...
Read moreThis place definitely needs some competition around, honestly I only go back because is convenient, just around the corner, the guy who cooks the pizza speaks So loud that is really annoying when you try to have a. Quiet bite, , the food it can be good at times, but they Became expensive, one of the servers always charge for the service on the bill, she don’t wait for the voluntary tip, (that’s wrong) I was there this Sunday around 5pm, we order the meals, one of the pizzas were overcooked, we were hungry and didn’t say a thing about it, than I order a Large ham and provolone grinder with mayo Toasted, they got me a small grinder cold, I call the Waitress to get my Grindr exchange for a large one just like I order in the first place and tell them to wrap it up to go because I had lost my appetite, we left, then I took the grinder for my lunch the next day and When I open the Grindr it was disgusting first they make the Grindr on a crispy roll witchI really hate because it hurts my mouth, and they put American cheese instead of provolone cheese, They over toasted the grinder, the bread taste old, it was a waste of money because the grinder ended up in the trash, I definitely don’t recommend this...
Read moreI did not realize what I was missing when I visited Ocean Pizza with my friend and his kids back in July of 2017 for the first time. During the early 2000's when I was living in the area, I would drive past it several times. The closest I ever got to it was the Wayfarer Bicycle Shop down the street. My mistake. The service was great and the food was top notch! We had a pepperoni pizza and I also had a rib steak grinder. The pizza was deliciously cheesy with generous amounts of pepperoni. The rib steak grinder was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Yum! I do miss calling the sandwiches and hearing them be called grinders instead of subs..... Which is the defacto nomenclature for a sub sandwich in California. Guess when you live in the submarine capital of the world, it is best to call those sub sandwiches something different;) We had an awesome time, and the pizza and grinder torpedoed my hunger and was very satisfying! Thank...
