My wife and I very much enjoy Gautreau's and were excited to hear that this new project was joining the neighborhood. A lot of places are not open 'late night' in the area, so we believed this would be a breath of fresh air.
They advertise on Instagram and through physical pamphlets that they have a "late night happy hour" that runs roughly from 8-10:30, complete with "Bar Snacks" and $3 off of signature and classic cocktails.
We arrived at 9:15 on a Friday evening and the lounge itself was nicely decorated with soft music playing. My wife and I ordered two cocktails off of their Classic menu and tried to order food but were told the kitchen was closed for the night: so much for the "Bar Snacks" specifically advertised as part of the Late night happy hour. We had a nice enough time with our drinks but when we asked for the bill we had a total of $38.95, for two cocktails (a very basic martini and French 75). I don't know if the discount was applied, but you can do much better Uptown for almost $20 each of mediocre cocktails.
We will be back to Gautreau's but will be skipping this spot for the foreseeable future. If you'd like a late night option that also has food, try Bouligny...
