I've eaten here at this new location 3x before this last experience with much better results but nothing exceptional. In July I had lunch at Bud’s Broiler on Canal Blvd. From waiting in the short line to receiving my food was over 55 minutes just for a burger. The burger patty didn’t taste right and it was cut in half. The staff was different from the staff a month before. Service was super slow and they didn’t seem to care about the people waiting on orders; no sense of urgency. A lady working behind the counter was rude to another customer waiting to pick-up their order. It was very poor service and sketchy. Definitely not the Bud’s of years ago. This last experience left me not wanting to return.

Our trip to Buds Broiler started next door at Morning Call. The kids were starving, and Google said they had hotdogs. Turns out, they don’t anymore, so we migrated to Buds. After waiting 25 minutes for our ballpark food, my daughter was served her hotdog on a hamburger bun and it was sliced into long strips. Who's stealing all the hotdog talent from this shopping center? It’s a tragedy that leaves a gaping hole. I see a golden opportunity here for Nathan’s Famous to swoop in. Also, took my kid to the bathroom, and while there were no paper towels, the staff somehow emerged with dry hands. Magic, I guess.

I am so glad this childhood classic has come back to New Orleans after so much drama. It is unfortunate that this is the only Bud's Broiler and that it is no longer open 24/7 but the taste of those amazing burgers has not left Bud's. The building is extremely large compared to any of the other Bud's and there is outdoor dining which is a fun feature to enjoy when it's comfortable outside. Welcome back, Bud's. We missed you.

I have always loved Buds. The food on this visit to the new store was fine.

But everything else was a disaster. Totally disorganized. After I had ordered and paid, I was told that it would be a twenty minute wait. While waiting, I heard the man at the register tell the next customer that it was a twenty five minute wait. I didn't get my food for thirty minutes.

I had time to watch the crew behind the counter try to get the orders out. It looked like slow motion chaos. The man at the grill was very slow, and kept leaving his station to go into the cooler for supplies. Everyone on the crew waited for the meat to cook, before prepping the buns.

I guess some of this has to do with this being a new store. But it is Management's responsibility to train their employees.

This kind of thing seems to be an issue storewide. I stopped going the the Metairie location because the dining room was so dirty. It got me to thinking how dirty was the part of the store that I couldn't see? I had higher hopes for a new purpose built store.

These are management issues.

I'm guessing it was the manager or owner that was on the register as well. He was the one that told me of the long wait AFTER taking my order and payment. I wasn't given an opportunity to make my own decision as to if I wanted to wait or not. Honestly, I wouldn't have. I was starving, and would have gone elsewhere. Why couldn't he be up from about it?

He was a man with white hair and beard, and the only one not in uniform. Though my ticket said his name was "Betsy."

Bud's also offers a 3.9% discount for cash. There is a sign at the register. I mentioned it when I paid, he assured me it had been applied. It wasn't. I didn't mention it, as it was a tiny bit of money. But I just saw it as another example of how this person didn't really give a damn about the customer.

The food was as good as I remember. But I still left with a bad taste...

The ice at Bud's is outstanding, so good my 1 refill was ice only. It is a must try; flaky, soft, perfection. After watching a person in my party struggle to order food, I beleive the burger menu could be simplified, allowing the customer to customize their order, rather than having the 1-6 option. For instance, if I want a burger with hickory sauce, there is not an option to include veggies. I ordered (traditional burger) the number 6, it was lack luster and cold. The meat had no flavor or seasoning and I could not tell it was char-broiled. It was so cold the cheese did not melt and ultimately was not worth the calories. I also ordered french fries, they were also cold and lacked seasoning. Ketchup for dine in orders were in a gallon jug with a pump; unfortunately, the jug was too low and the food expediter was being an angry bird, as I observed her denying diners to-go ketchup packets. Her attitude was terrible. I was with a party of seven, we ordered in small groups, and each person stated it would be their last time patronizing at Bud's. I'm not sure what it tasted like prior as I am not a native, but apparently it did not live up to the memories. Unfortunately, I can not recommend the food; however, despite the lack of flavor and heat, the ice was incredible. The restaurant was clean and the patio was decent, the only complaint was the incredible amount of flies, which may be caused by the open trash cans. In closing, if you'll ever get the opportunity to try the ice at Bud's, it is exceptional, even with the piss poor attitude of the food expeditor, you will not be disappointed...

Absolutely horrible and extremely unsanitary. No seasoning on the patty there’s no sign at all of brisket in our burgers even though we Asked for a med well big bud ( the burger that’s supposed to have the brisket )and a medium big bud with 1 large sauce and cheese fries. Got 2 extra well done burgers a large fry and a large sauce fry. Was told by the cashier that she was getting aggravated when we asked to make sure the burgers they were remaking for being way overcooked came with cheese as we didn’t notice the only burger that doesn’t get cheese was the largest burger on the menu our luck the one we ordered. Then when asking if our burgers were looking correct I attempted to explain how to tell the difference between a med well and medium where she informed me she’s been a cook for 19 years and didn’t need me to tell her that even though she was asking if the med rare burger she was showing us was the med well we wanted and Even though they had already sold us well done burgers. To top it off, they took our original burgers that we both touched all over and put them back under the heat lamp by other peoples food that had not been sent out yet. Which is disgusting. As someone who has actually been in the industry for 18+ years I will never return based...
