I was finally able to scratch that Jamaican food itch(mostly) that I'd been craving. Not sure why it took me so long to make it over here as I frequent several other businesses in the area. As such I came to my senses and stopped by on a nice afternoon for lunch. I kept it basic with the jerk chicken plate and their crawfish stuffed plantain. I was thinking it would be something similar to mufongo, but they were completely different. Super tasty little cups Caribbean crawfish joy. Then there was the massive jerk chicken plate that seemed like it had half a chicken worth of food plus. I was advised to stick with the mild as the hot is extremely hot, but I'm morbidly curious after my 1st try. The mild did have a decent amount of heat, but nothing I would consider spicy. But I know once you start adding scotch bonnets things can quickly escalate. And I don't know if the greens were callaloo or not, but they were delicious. It was nice out so I was able to sit at one of their patio tables and take in the fact that a week earlier it was snowmeggedeon here. The service was outstanding, you could literally feel the warmth and love walking in. It was like walking into my Aunt's kitchen when I was little, 'Hey beybey, you need anything, what can I get for?'. Kids walking home from school would stop in and say hi! I'm holding that 5th star hostage until I can get one of those patties. I'm still craving one and they were unfortunately out of them. They're cash or payment apps only, no...

I was beyond thrilled to find a halal eatery which was also such a great experience! The menu changes every day but they have some staples like the jerk chicken and the wraps. You can sit inside and enjoy the funky Caribbean ambience complete with flags from the world over, photos of Bob Marley and reggae music or you can sit outside and enjoy the neighborhood sights.

The food was delicious and well spiced - we got the chicken jerky with rice and salad and the chicken wrap. We asked for the extra spicy version. It was prepared right in front of us and was fresh. To say that this meal was delicious would be an understatement. So lost were we in the delicious food that for a couple of minutes, we just sat quietly, eating and enjoying our meal. We also got the sugarcane juice to which they added mint and lemon - a nice touch for that humid day.

However the best thing about this place is the owner - her name is Mother Nature and she is a real gem of a person - warm and friendly. She is from the Caribbean and was delighted to learn about my Indian background - she said her grandma was from India and taught her a lot of the cooking techniques from the region - I was super impressed 😊

Totally recommend this place - affordable, great service, great portion size and a very friendly, laid...

Amazing Dining Experience: Last week I visited New Orleans with my wife and we had the most incredible dining experience at CoCo Hut! Upon entering the restaurant, we were impressed by the display of genuine southern hospitality by the owner and our server. This is an "off-the-beaten path" restaurant and we felt right at home from the start. We ordered the black bean burger, side of collard greens/cabbage mix and the "Aretha Franklin" drink(hibiscus juice mixed with sugar cane juice, garnished with fresh ginger and mint leaves)!! The food and drinks were absolutely delicious! Best black bean burger that we've had!! Our meal was prompt, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. At one point the owner herself came to our table outside to ensure that we were satisfied. She was very pleasant and even introduced us to other patrons. The atmosphere was clean, down home and comfortable. It felt like we were sitting at home, in our own dining room. We wish much success to CoCo Hut's owner and staff! We can't wait to come back and try more items from their menu. Definitely a new favorite spot when we visit New Orleans! If you're looking for great plant-based food options in New Orleans with an energetic Caribbean vibe, look no further, you have found your place! We recommend...

Coco Hut is real deal authentic Caribbean food. I had the Jerk Salmon and it was the best… It was full of flavor and just the right amount of heat. My husband and son ordered the jerk chicken and it was so good. The heat is real if your one who likes it spicy (My husband) he was sweating while eating it and loved it. Their sides were so good. I love the greens, the flavor was lovely, and the homemade dressings for the salads were amazing. They also do in house teas…. So good. I can’t wait to go back to New Orleans to visit this place. Put this restaurant on you “ To do list.”
