I have been hearing a lot about this place, so I Wanted to take my mom and my Grandkids.today we went in and after seeing a line, I asked How long before we were seated? Her reply was30 minutes give or take Not too bad my family and I waited in the car .waited exactly 28 minutes I went back to the café. I was met by our Alicia Artesia or whatever her name is I can’t remember, but she loudly came and scolded me and said hey I called you three times now when I asked if she had called us, it wasn’t with the attitude of Oh, we’ve been waiting or anything like that I just wanted to know what to tell my family whether to text my granddaughter to head on over to the café with her brother and Grand well, the lady shouted at me and said I called you three times so I proceeded to say to her well this is what you told me 30 minutes and it’s been like 28 minutes and she said I said 30 minutes give or take just very very boisterous I understand she has a job that is in high demand but and she deals with a lot of people of all types of personalities, but she is just one person with one personality so be careful how you talk to folk I was merely asking for information purposes and was not intending there to be a confrontation I ended up apologizing to her and she told me oh you don’t need to apologize never making eye contact with me the whole entire she told me oh you can’t sit you are you gonna have to wait now so I said ma’am I have an elderly mother who’s in my company she is walking from the car with my grandkids. Is she allowed to simply walk back to the café or do I need to go and drive her here so that she’ll be here more expediently so she said oh well she’s OK to walk with y’all gonna have to sit on the side and blah blah blah blah blah OK I wasn’t asking to be prioritized. I was simply asking How long it would be before I could have my mom sit inside of the air-conditioned café that’s all. where is the rest of your family go get them I reminded her again of my very elderly mom Nearly 80 who needs assistance walking.I left the café to go and meet my family like to see where they were because this lady was very agitated mind you. I didn’t care if we had missed our our spot to be Seated tables were coming up as they were coming up no big deal. I just wanted to have my mom have a seat inside where it was cool. after being seated, we ordered .My family did. I was a little bit disappointed because I was expecting to be able to order an oyster loaf, but there was no oysters on the menu at all so I ordered bread pudding, which was had the consistency of wet French bread condensed milk poured over it it was Jiggly and I couldn’t even like try it.I ended up giving it to my granddaughter who politely disposed of it.If they followed my recipe they’d they make $1 million on it yes for sure🤣 Or at least borrow my recipe or someone else’s who’s better also in addition to that, my mom ordered the gumbo which was very salty. The rice wasn’t cooked all the way after waiting half an hour to even have food put on table. In summary, the food was mediocre except for the fried chicken. I had a wing tip from my grandson’s meal and it was absolutely tasty! The service was not great at all, and that loud lady was a turn off take some adequate classes and public communication classes as well because not everyone will respond in a kind way when being greeted...
Read moreMy best friend and I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant before we left New Orleans Sunday. It was recommended by one of my cousins who lives here now. We get there and I put our name on the list and was told it was approximately a 20-minute wait. We waited about 25 to 35 minutes before we were seated. It is a very small place on the inside. For the mass amount of people that come to visit, this is a VERY crowded restaurant. Anyway I believe there were three sets of two's that we're coming for brunch / lunch so we were all seated at a table of six. After we were seated we all introduced ourselves and told where we were from and our experience of wanting to try the restaurant. My best friend and I had the buffet. So, I don't know what I was expecting but... The macaroni and cheese could have been better. Actually, mine is. The fried chicken!! 😍😍 Although it was a little salty, it was amazing! The gumbo was just okay... The first time we went up to the buffet someone I'm assuming had taken all the shrimp and all the other stuff out of it so there was just broth and sausage left. The green beans were decent and unfortunately, I didn't try anything else. The buffet itself is very limited. When we were seated we had a wonderful waitress who seemed a little stressed because the woman cooking the eggs for the brunch... 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ I can't even begin to tell you how unprofessional she was with the comments she was making to the waitstaff. I understand being crowded and I understand being frustrated but, when you have a restaurant filled with patrons, you have to be aware of your behavior and your customers. The owner recognize this issue after mins of the back and forth and reprimanded a couple of waitresses, right in front of the customers. He finally shouted, "Breakfast is over!" As I stated, very unprofessional. It was a little entertaining at first but when it continued for over 20 to 30 minutes, it just became annoying. I remember it raining very hard and the owner locking the door because he didn't want people stepping into the restaurant. I can understand why but... Anyway, the food was decent and the price was okay but if I had to say I would visit again, probably not. I can say that I experienced it but I can also say that it wasn't ab experience that would make me want to come again. If they are a family owned restaurant and these are family members that are working, they need to have family meetings and get there attitude(s) in check. Travelers...

First off, the mac and cheese? Not merely a side dish, but a transcendent experience that compels one to reconsider the very definition of 'comfort food.' The creamy, velvety texture of the cheese intertwines with the perfect al dente pasta in a harmonious union that could convert even the most hardened food critic into a believer. And those candied yams? Fried chicken? Please. I didn’t just eat that chicken, I worshiped it. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside—it's a textural symphony that had me questioning my life choices, like, 'Why haven't I been eating this my entire existence?' Now, let's talk about the shrimp po'boy. The shrimp—elegant, poised, and delicately seasoned, gliding across the taste buds like a well-dressed gentleman at a gala. And that French bread? It wasn’t bread. It was pure, ethereal magic that crumbled and melted in my mouth like it had been kissed by the gods of culinary bliss themselves. Simply put: sublime. But let’s not overlook the real MVPs—the staff. These professionals embody the essence of what hospitality should be, and they’ve mastered the fine art of serving with grace, charm, and a level of finesse that is rare to find in this fast-paced world.
