my experience: delightful and enriching, an intimate naturalist tour of the New Orleans swampland! definitely recommend this if you’re interested in learning about the history of the land and wildlife. our tour guide was knowledgable and passionate and took great care of our group of nine strangers. our guide picked us up from the city and drove us to the bayou, and then we got in single and tandem kayaks and pushed off! the guide led us gently down the bayou while sharing context for the wildlife we were seeing. very friendly for new kayakers. also got to know the other friendly people in our group. after two hours, we left with a richer knowledge of New Orleans and new friends!
customer service: customer service was great, took our calls when we were worried about getting rained out. they reassured us they would notify us about cancellations and give us our full refund.
wetness level: also be prepared to get a little wet from the kayak, especially your shorts. splashes from paddling. waters are very gentle and calm so won’t get splashed if you’re worried about that. could easily take out our phones to take pictures while in the kayak.
tips: life jackets were secure and had chest pockets for water bottles and phones. we left our belongings in the car while kayaking. bring a water bag for your lunch!

Read moreGreat experience! My wife and I are nature lovers and guide Nick took us on a tour that met all our expectations and then some. We counted at least 9 species of bird, including a pair of osprey, several great egrets, little blue heron, a cattle egret, a prothonotary warbler, a roseate spoonbill, and a couple of barred owls, one of which we got to see pretty close up as it was eating its lunch (a small snake). We also saw 2 alligators, one resting on a log (can't see it very well in my photo, but my wife got a much better one).
All in all, just a great all around experience. Nick (the guide) knew every species of animal and plant and had great answers for all of our many questions. Pick up and drop off were on time, and without a hitch. There is a convenience store at the place where the kayaks are picked up, so you can grab water, shades, snacks, sunscreen etc. Experience with kayaks is helpful, but not necessary, it's very calm water and very stable boats, so hardly any risk of tipping. Very beginner friendly.
Protip: the first part if the trip goes down a channel that is cool, but the really cool parts are when you turn out of the channel into the bayous. Don't dally too long in the channel or you might miss some other cool stuff to see at the far end of the trip.
Highly recommend for anyone who likes getting up close...
Read moreOur recent Bayou kayaking adventure in New Orleans, Louisiana, was nothing short of phenomenal! From start to finish, this three-hour tour exceeded every expectation. The beauty of the Bayou is breathtaking — lush native foliage, serene waters, and an abundance of wildlife that makes you feel completely immersed in nature. We saw everything from alligators to snakes, and our guide Alex made it all the more unforgettable.
Alex was an absolute pro. His knowledge of the area and its ecosystem was incredible, and he had a way of blending education with fun that kept everyone engaged. The highlight of the trip came when a curious, non-venomous snake decided to hop into one of the kayaks. While some of us may have panicked, Alex remained calm and handled the situation with remarkable expertise. He safely removed the snake without harming it or the participant, leaving us all in awe of his skill and composure.
If you're considering a Bayou kayaking tour, this is the company to choose, hands down. The trip was adventurous, safe, and packed with unforgettable moments. A massive thank you to Alex and the entire team for making this experience one for the books! We’ll definitely be back for...
