Another place I'm quickly becoming obsessed with and I'm not the only one. This was my 1st time dining in after previously ordering delivery. If you can't get here before 9am on the weekend, be prepared to wait. They are that good. The 1st order was the breakfast sandwich, which was gigantic but I didn't get a chance to try. I was too busy inhaling the biscuits and gravy with a fried egg that was phenomenal. Life changing perhaps, cause sausage gravy has no business tasting that good! I want to do unspeakable things with this gravy, just saying. This go around they got the crispy rice salad and I ended up with biscuits n gravy again. I wanted the special vegan tamales, but they were out. I was extra sad about that after tasting the crispy rice salad. Again outlandishly delicious, I thought I was at Budsi's for a minute. It was very reminiscent of Malaysian tea salad, lots of bold flavors and textures that come together magnificently. I didn't understand the sour cream until I had a bite with a jalapeno in it, more yum. My biscuit and gravy was excellent again, and I ended up with leftover gravy. The server almost lost a finger trying to clear my dish. I had planned to order another biscuit, but then I saw the sign for Khachapuri and duh. Completely out of left field, and knocked it out of the park. Rich buttery crispy crust that held more rich buttery cheesy artichoke and spinachy eggy goodness ah my lawd just talking about it. Way too much after everything else, it was a drunken treat later that night. This place can do no wrong, I hope it stays that way forever. It's order at the counter and seat yourself. I do hope they find a better home for the water and flatware station. Decor is eclectic, I had that California raisins lunch box too! There is a decent amount of seating but by their 1st hour of service it was filled up. I've made a previous solo attempt and kept moving because the line was down the block. Also Uber eats stole my last delivery, this ish is fire!

New Orleans Breakfast Adventure Gone Wrong Ok, this one’s a tough one. I visit New Orleans often, and every trip I make/add to my list of hot spots to try. Molly’s Rise and Shine was at the very top this time. I woke up, hopped on the St. Charles streetcar, and walked half a mile—excited and ready for what I thought would be an amazing breakfast. It was a quiet Wednesday morning, so the place wasn’t crowded. I ordered the carrot yogurt granola and the fried chicken biscuit. The granola? Absolutely delicious—unique, fresh, and perfectly balanced. But then… things took a sharp turn. That chicken biscuit? Whew. It was so over-seasoned and topped with what looked like a whole ice-cream scoop of honey butter. Two bites in and my stomach said, “Hold up, wait a minute. Don’t go there, ‘cause I ain’t with it!” The amount of seasoning hit me like a freight train. I actually started to feel sick and had to stop eating. Trying to recover, I was still hungry and went to order some plain grits and a biscuit to settle my stomach. Took a couple bites, ran to the restroom—and, unfortunately, got sick because of the amount of seasoning from that chicken. When I came back, my table was bussed and cleared… along with my uneaten grits and biscuit. At that point, I had to laugh. My breakfast dreams were officially crushed. $45 spent on 5 bites of breakfast. I hopped back on the streetcar, regrouped, and made one last stop at Willa Jean. Redemption! The food there was so good and totally made up for the rough start to my morning.

Since we had our dogs with us, we opted to sit outside and fortunately, the West side had great shade!!! There was even a self-serve container of ice water outside the door so we could re-fill our water glasses, and a of water bowl for our puppies!!! We were there on a Monday, around 9 am, so food came out promptly. Staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful! Bathrooms are neat, clean and very quaint! The Pappas Rancheros were very well seasoned, and since I try to minimize the addition of salt to my food over the years, it stood out. Not to the point where I didn't finish them, they didn't need any more...but the seasonings were great! The tamales were fantastic, despite not showing quite so fancy to the eye. The young woman who took my order pointed out a small sign providing some details as to the ingredients and indicating that they're a little hot, didn't deter me, although I did warn my wife about it, she enjoyed them with me and found they weren't as hot as had been anticipated, but they did have a little kick. The Roasted Carrot Granola (not sure I have it correct,) was amazing. In fact, the evening prior, we had dinner at La Petite Grocery, and our server, Hannah, had recommended this spot as a breakfast option, and had waxed eloquently about the granola. Needless to say, it was spot on!!! I know we'll be back in NOLA in the future, Molly's Rise and Shine will be on our list!!!

If I could give it six stars, I would.

My wife and I have been to many quality restaurants around the city during our trip to NO but Molly's Rise and Shine is what we were missing. It's the taste and execution of the food that tells you "someone cares about this food" and by extension, someone cares about you. We had the McMuffin, the Sausage Biscuit, a side of gravy and then got the Country Ham dish to take on the road with us. Sarah was an amazing host and even hooked us up with a trial of the tamales that my wife had mentioned.

Every component was put together with care and the flavor profiles were somehow both comforting and familiar but unique at the same time. The McMuffin reminded me of being a kid picking up breakfast on the way to school but somehow a million times more delicious. The nice sausage, perfectly cooked egg, the onions caramelized to the point of basically being onion candy and that home made English muffin... Are you kidding?! It all just came together so well. The chicken was a fat thigh with a thick, crispy breading that was aggressively seasoned and definitely ranks as some of the very best fried chicken in town. The biscuit has a great classic texture but a nice tangy flavor. The gravy is it's own animal. We actually went back for another biscuit to kill this gravy. It was a miso, pork gravy so again, it was a little bit different but somehow felt like it was exactly what it was supposed to be. For the road, we took the ham plate which was more like a little charcuterie plate than a traditional "country ham plate". The cured ham had a really deep flavor and the selection of items to go along with it was pretty smart. There's pickles, a jammy egg, a little green salad, mustard and croutons along with a few of those little cheesey rolls that you often see at a Brazilian steak house. Again, each item was put together with care. Finally the vegan tamale... I'm definitely not vegan but I could have eaten a half dozen. My wife and I are so glad we stopped by Molly's Rise and Shine. It was actually our very last stop on the way out of town and it was so enjoyable and seemingly meant for us that we've decided to just plan our next trip to NO around all of Mason Herefords restaurants! Can't wait to see what these other locations are cooking up!

Really cool interior with interesting chatchkes that take me back, awesome people behind the counters doing awesome things and food that gives warm and fuzzy feelings and knocks your socks off at the same time. Don't miss this place on your next trip to...

I’ve meant to try this place for years. I was hoping it would be something like “Tout de Suite Cafe” in Algiers point , but went today and left disappointed. My wife and I got the “Grand slam McMuffin” - (That was ok, but it tasted like it was made to trick a child into eating a real breakfast sandwich. Not worth the trip) and the “Country ham plate.” The weirdest dish I’ve had in recent memory. I felt like that should come with a glass of wine… An esthetically unpleasant dish, consisting on a 1/4 of an egg sliced in half! (I know prices are high, but c’mon), a bunch of pickles, a little bit of greens 5 croutons, 3 tiny butter bread balls, cured ham (that we actually saved to have with cheese and wine later on) and some godforsaken sweet spicy mustard sauce that I would have regretted stepping on. Got a coffee in a paper cup (no mug, no refills) and small cup of o.j for $4.50. Is counter service, and there’s a 15% tip included, and the tip options after that are 5, 10,15 and 20%, so obviously, exploiting the psychology behind public pressure, I’m pressed to choose anything but the lowest option to not be an a-h, and pressed 10%, for a total of 25% tip on counter service, unless the extra tip is on top of the total after their added tip, then is more. Just to proceed to get my own water, utensils etc. So the whole interaction makes me feel a bit manipulated, taken advantage of…and that was even before I got my food. So we paid $40 for a black coffee, 4-5oz of .j, a sandwich and a plate of tiny portions of things they had around in the kitchen I guess. So not a good experience for me. I see how some people from that neighborhood might have no problem with the prices, but the problem is the overall value. The food, vibe and ambiance,...
