I had a reservation that was a month ago. , I feel as though I want to share all the unprofessional experience I had firsthand of all the things that went wrong. First of all my server Lloyd presented hiself like as though we were friends not a customer, continuing from there I asked for a champagne cocktail which I was told they don’t have the ingredients to make my drink ???? Okayyyy ummm he said they have a full bar ? Then I was given menus but not a wine list ???? Why not I am at a steakhouse was I being profile that maybe I couldn’t afford it or something like he didn’t feel it was necessary. So I continued to buying a bottle of red wine over a $130 dollars because I am a wine drinker but a good one at that . So I ordered the crab cake which was disappointing and then a fly was flying around and landed in my friend drink so he takes it away bring back another red wine which we were not drinking and just dropped it and never said what it was cause a fly landed in her drink which was not at all our fault but I would of wanted to know what it was cause I would want it to be comparable of the bottle of wine we were drinking., there was a manager on duty who was just standing around and watch the whole thing unfold but did nothing about it or address the problem of what had happened. Moving forward I see another server working next table to me offer their table menus and wine list with much care and quality service. This restaurant is on St Charles avenue which I thought would have been a great experience but no this was my first and last time dining there !!!!! I asked for my bill and I still tipped him accordingly because I have worked in restaurants fine fine dining for over 30 years so you see you never know who you are serving and everyone who comes there should all be treated equally. It was disappointing your manager needs to be more involved then just standing and leaning on the wall cause that’s no help for making return business for Mr John steakhouse, I hope you get this review and take it seriously that your restaurant is ran half ass to be in a city of great food and...
Read moreThis was a bit of a disappointment by the unfriendliness of the greeting of the hostess, matradee(owner) and Bartender that started off our evening poorly... the only saving grace was due to our lovely waiter and the actual lovely food(good steaks, lovely prepared sides we ordered with it and appetizer) we spend $200+ on our meal and gave a 20%+ tip to our very lovely waiter that was friendly & attentive. We were dissapointed with the coldness of the Bartender not seeing if we needed a drink while waiting at the bar before being seated and it was as if we were on purpose being ignored (where he was too busy making drinks for the staff to care about us). Also the matradee(owner) did not stop by to see how our dinning experience was- but my husband could see he had stopped by every other table in the dinning room that night. This was to be a special Birthday dinner I had made reservations way in advance(month before our trip) and we also were guests staying at the attached hotel;Wyndham Avenue- which one would think with that- they would treat us a little better than how we had been. The food was excellent(was a very well prepared steak dinner, and the sides were lovely)... but the lack of welcoming of the initial hostess/matradee and bartender definitely left a bad impression on that night for this supposedly high end and highly rated long standing establishment.. bit of a disappointing & disheartening evening of initial expectations. If back in NOLA- this may not be a 2nd visit to John's Steakhouse for the lack of warmth &...
Read moreI cannot rate the food or atmosphere because we have not had a chance to step foot in the restaurant. We had 2 special occasions booked here & both were canceled by the restaurant. The first one in May, I honestly understand. They called us a few hours before our reservation letting us know their a/c went out. We were able to get in last minute at Chophouse.
However, the 2nd time was in November. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. My husband set the reservation well in advance. I wouldn’t think that they decided 2 weeks before that they would be closed Thanksgiving weekend which also happens to be Bayou Classic weekend. The restaurant canceled our reservation, but no one called to inform us or even apologize for the inconvenience. Being that this is the 2nd time, you would think someone would have. The right thing to do in this situation would have been to call your guests if you are canceling their reservations ESPECIALLY if it is noted that they are celebrating an anniversary. If they don’t answer, leave a voicemail. Instead, they only sent an email which can easily get overlooked or sent to spam & that’s exactly what happened. To our surprise, we found out a couple of hours before our “reservation” that the restaurant was closed and they also did not put that in the email...we called them & it was in their voicemail. They actually gave no reason for cancellation in the email. They did in fact spoil what was supposed to be a...
