Poseidon Oyster and Sushi Bar offers a blend of seafood specialties and sushi in the heart of New Orleans. While it has its strengths, it falls into the "average but acceptable" category, especially for those looking for a casual seafood experience. Atmosphere The restaurant has a modern and casual vibe, with a clean and inviting interior. It’s nothing particularly unique or memorable, but it’s comfortable enough for a meal. The seating can feel a bit tight, especially during busy times, which can make the atmosphere a bit hectic. Food The menu is diverse, featuring classic Gulf oysters, sushi rolls, and a range of other seafood dishes. Oysters: The raw oysters are fresh but lack the distinctive "wow" factor you might find at other local spots. They’re solidly prepared but don’t stand out. Sushi: The sushi rolls are decent, with fresh fish and creative combinations, but they lean heavily on sauces, which can overpower the flavors. Other Dishes: Some cooked dishes, like the seafood pasta, are hit-or-miss—tasty but occasionally over-seasoned or inconsistent in portion sizes. Service Service is efficient but can feel rushed, especially during peak hours. While the staff is polite, they don’t always go out of their way to create a welcoming or personalized experience. Pros Convenient location in New Orleans. A wide variety of seafood options, including sushi and cooked dishes. Fresh ingredients for the most part. Cons Prices are on the higher side for the quality and portion sizes. The atmosphere can get noisy and cramped. Flavors can feel overly complicated

I NEVER give restaurants two stars. This is not a good rating, but with this restaurant, I believe I have good reason. Here's why. We visited as tourists about two hours before closing time. Little to no other patrons were seated - from what I could tell, we were the only people there. 1. Our waitress was fine, but she didn't check on our table often. At one point, she even WENT OUTSIDE, while serving us, and smoked a cigarette with her buddies. I was absolutely appalled! She didn't even serve us our meals; somebody else did, and then she came back to offer us dessert/bring us the check. (We also witnessed each of the other staff members go outside to smoke - out front, in uniform - while we were there. Exceptions were the bartender and chef.) 2. As a higher-class restaurant, I was surprised by the fact that they host a karaoke night. It seemed to be sectioned off separately from the dining room, but still, we could hear the karaoke going on, rather loudly. 3. I found a hair in one of my sushi rolls. It was just in one of them, but nonetheless, that is something that the staff and potential customers should be weary of. 4. The ONLY reason that this place got an extra star and not one star is that my sushi was delicious (at least, the rolls without hair). My boyfriend's meal was also delicious, so it's a shame that the service was so awful. Take my words with a grain of salt. Like I said, the food is great, but the staff was incredibly unprofessional during our visit. I was extremely disappointed, as a tourist looking for a nice experience.

Wanted to try out their karaoke room because I have never been. You have to call in advance to reserve a room, and it is a non-refundable $15. It does not go towards the food/drinks you order when you are there. The service was okay, and I can tell our waitress was trying her best to attend to us, but it was hard because the bell in the room did not notify her when we needed her. It was broken so she had to come check in on us on her own while she had to tend to other tables in the dining area or we just leave our room and ask for her. The room looked outdated and dirty...floor was sticky and seats looked run down. The food was not good at all. We tried to eat it but couldn’t so the majority of it went to waste. I believe I got food poisoning from the sashimi special platter. I felt so terrible the next day. I was miserable. The presentation of the dishes looked really pretty, but it did not taste right at all. I only gave this place two stars instead of one because of the service. I really wanted to like this place, but sadly, I did not and will not be returning.

A friend and I went in for a drink and a snack. We sat at the bar. The bartender had a surly look on his face, didn’t smile or say anything - just stared at us. We ordered. My friend made a benign comment about movies and he interrupted and went on a long, hate-filled diatribe, spouting conspiracy theories. Our avoiding body language and our not engaging with him went unnoticed. Here are just a couple of gems - no gun violence in the US; if there were guns would be outlawed. COVID was fake; it was a conspiracy made up by mask manufacturers to make millions. MANY more like this, him getting angrier and more worked up. A common comment was how “they” were generating propaganda to control the populace. Again, we did not in any way interact with him. Along the way he spewed some sneering putdowns at us, even though we weren’t saying anything. A reprieve came when our food arrived. He never spoke another word to us or anyone, just stood there glowering. When I asked for our tab, instead of handing it to me, he threw it on the bar out of my reach. When we left we thanked him for the excellent food. He just stood there glaring.

I am surprised this person keeps his job. We will likely go back because we very much like the place, but if we see him on shift, we’ll leave and...
