A Hidden Gem with Stellar Service and Incredible Eats
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Parasols dive bar, and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, with that classic dive bar charm - think dim lighting, eclectic decor, and the comforting hum of locals enjoying their time. But what truly made my visit unforgettable were the culinary delights and the service by Adrian.
The Atmosphere: Parasols isn't just a bar; it's a dive with character. It's the kind of place where stories are told, friendships are made, and everyone feels at home. The walls are lined with memorabilia, each piece telling a story of its own, making you feel like you're part of a larger narrative.
The Roast Beef: Let's talk about the roast beef. This isn't your average sandwich. It's a culinary masterpiece - tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The beef was so succulent it fell apart with each bite, layered generously between slices of bread that were toasted just right to add the perfect crunch. Every element was in harmony, making this sandwich not just food, but an event.
The Irish Sundae: Now, onto the Irish Sundae - this dessert was a revelation. It's not just a sundae; it's an experience. Layers of rich ice cream, drizzled with a sauce that had just the right balance of sweetness and tang, topped with a hefty dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of nuts. It was decadent yet perfectly balanced, a dessert that's both comforting and indulgent.
Adrian, The Server: But the real star of the show was Adrian. From the moment you meet him, you understand why he's considered the best server in the neighborhood. Adrian's service was not just about getting orders right; it was about making every guest feel like they were the only one in the room. His recommendations were spot-on, his timing impeccable, and his warmth, infectious. His knowledge of the menu, the drinks, and even the local scene made the experience personal and enjoyable.
Conclusion: Parasols dive bar is more than a place for a quick drink; it's a destination for those who appreciate great food, a vibrant atmosphere, and exceptional service. Whether you're there for the roast beef, the Irish Sundae, or just to soak in the vibe, Adrian ensures your visit is memorable. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and visit Parasols. Thank Adrian for me; he's truly the best in...
Read moreI write this review to help anyone thinking about it in the future. It is not as good as advertised. Maybe they had a bad day, I'm not sure. You don't have to read anymore passed this unless you want my story. I'm just going to tell you my experience. When we first walked in we seated ourselves which is fine, but we also had to get up to order, which is ok I guess, but we had to figure it out, instead of a sign letting us know. It took a little over 8 minutes for someone to finally come to the window to take our order. I ordered what I saw Guy order from the Diners Drive ins and Dives show. It was not the best Po boy in town. I could have mad one better. The meat wasnt tender as advertised. So we also ordered drinks. A root beer and a sweet tea. We asked the guys was the tea sweet and he said "this is Louisiana right?". When we got our food we had to remind the guy twice that we ordered drinks. He then brought two cups and the root beer. Confused I walked back up to the window, and asked where the tea? He pointed me in the direction of a small dispenseer hidden behind a cooler. The lemonaid next to that had flies flying around inside the container. That's rite I said inside. So when we sat down with the tea, wouldn't you believe it that the tea was in fact unsweet. I'll skip a few other things and just tell you go somewhere else if you can. The food was not very good nothing special, worst cooks in America could have done better. The cleanliness was very lacking. Sticky floors, and un clean tables with food still on them. The place wasnt busy either, maybe 3 others there. Anyway, save yourself New Orleans has...
Read moreBeing born in the early 60s, my grandmother and mom use to take us here sometimes on weekends to get the BEST po- boy in New Orleans. I just moved back here after moving away in 2001 and was looking forward to going to get me the best roast beef sandwich ever eaten. However, the roast beef sandwich that was the best—and as much as it was the best ROAST BEEF sandwich in the City of New Orleans, it is now the worse. They use to boil a roast and make their own gravy but now they use DELI meat! Yes, deli meat! The gravy is not the same either, neither is the bread! The bread they use to use was called Leidenheimer bread and it had a great taste. Not only is the bread not the same, they crisp the bread so much that it falls apart in large chunks when eating. They season their fries way too much you can’t even taste the potato in them. It’s a shame!!! What I don’t understand is that, when people take over a restaurant they change the way the food is made, why is that? So, if you were born in the 60s, 70s 80,s 90s, or early 2000s and going here to get the best roast beef sandwich in New Orleans you will definitely be disappointed like I was yesterday, because the sandwiches are not the same. The Passauer‘s originally created the homemade Roast Beef Sandwiches and all other owners kept it the same until the latest owners bought it and totally changed it and started using Deli Meat! I will always CRAVE Parasol’s original roast beef sandwiches, but I will never go back here ever again...
