On our walk from hotel to Walmart, my husband and I stumbled across this little spot. A quick Yelp and Google check showed great reviews, and even though the photos looked pretty simple, we decided to give it a try. Sometimes that’s just how travel works and you cross paths with unexpected gems. The owner and his family couldn’t have been nicer. This place has been around for over 30 years, a mix of convenience store and local eatery. The owner, an older Asian gentleman, warmly asked me and my husband where we were from as soon as he saw us. We think maybe because there aren’t many Asian in the neighborhood and it instantly felt welcoming and we started to chitchat. His son was helping in the kitchen that day, and the guy taking our order (super friendly, too!) turned out to be his son-in-law, just stopping by on his day off. This place is small but we could tell most of the steady stream of takeout customers were regulars. We ordered about $50 worth of food: • C2 Fried Chicken (10 pcs) – $11.99 • P6 Shrimp Po’boy (12”) – $5.99 • P8 Catfish Po’boy (12”) – $7.99 • R5 Cajun Gumbo – $8.99 • Two cans of drinks It felt special that on our very first day in New Orleans, we got to try two of the city’s most iconic dishes: Gumbo and Po’boys right here in this humble neighborhood spot. The fried chicken was super crispy, the Po’boys were packed with filling, and the gumbo was flavorful without being overly salty. We couldn’t finish it all, so the leftovers became our breakfast the next morning. The shop itself is nothing fancy, just two folding tables and a few chairs but the food and the warmth of the people made it one of those memorable stops that really stick with us. We actually came back on our last day in New Orleans and wanted to try the Yak-Ka-Mein Soup which was recommended by the owner but it was closed on Memorial Day:( I guess we will save it for our next visit. If you ever find yourself in the area, I’d highly recommend trying their food. 📍T&T Seafood & Po-Boys 548 Jackson Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130

Can’t stop coming here the yakamein is OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD! Like seasoned and cook so perfectly!!! The chicken wings are fried fresh! So glad I found this hidden gem. They also have crawfish and shrimp by the pound! The quality of the crawfish is excellent just need some type of seasoning and butter but still very good!

Visited from Texas and was VERY disappointed with the shrimp boil and turkey neck. A big NO from me. My son did like his chicken and the fried fish my other son had also looked good.

I live in the neighborhood with my two daughters and we visit here pretty often. The couple who runs this place is very sweet & kind. This is the only place near here that I order fried food from because it always tastes like fresh grease. You know how sometimes you go to a place and order a shrimp po boy but you can taste all the chicken and fish that’s been fried in the same grease? Well the reason I love this place so much is that the grease always, always, ALWAYS tastes like your food was the only thing fried in it. It’s very clean. The couple has been watching my kids grow up (they were in elementary school when I first moved here and are headed to high school now) and always have the nicest things to say to us. The fried rice is very high quality. The seafood is seasoned like a black great uncle with Jesus sandals boiled it. (That’s gonna make sense to some of you lol) There’s an adult male who works sometimes who I’ve assumed is their son. He’s pretty easy on the eyes and doesn’t talk much, but I don’t see him too often. Upon exiting, make sure to PULL. Despite there being a sign that says ‘pull’ you’re gonna wanna push based on the way the door looks. That door has checked me...

We picked up the best fried shrimp po-boys from here today with tons of quality shrimp, on the right bread, perfectly dressed. And you can't beat the price.

Now, we're kicking ourselves for not trying T&T when we lived on nearby Annunciation Street for years; for sure, they would have been our go-to for neighborhood takeout. We'll be back whenever we're ever in the Lower Garden District.

Fresh seafood, friendly and family-owned, and...
