Aldo's Bakery — Restaurant in New Shoreham

My husband and I got married on Block Island in August 2020. My husband is not a cake person but we both love cookies and ice cream so instead of a cake we got custom ice cream cookies sandwiches made from Aldo's! They were beyond amazing & huge!! Everyone from my wedding still talks about them! Johnny is so easy to work with and accommodating he's the best!! We had a tough time planning because of COVID and he made at least this one task super easy and laid back! We also got breakfast platters for the groom and brides getting ready snacks & rented a dells cart from him for our signature drinks! The night before our wedding we had a bonfire on the beach & it was also was our little cousins birthday so we preordered the most delicious cake! From start to finish I can't rave about our favorite bakery in our favorite place enough! It was a little different from our typical boat side services but as always was...

The ice cream was very good and reasonably priced. Highly recommend "cookie monster". The cold brew was also shockingly good.

I wasn't on the island long but it was the only place I could find a reasonably wheelchair accessible restroom. It had no soap and the toilet wasn't properly bolted down... but I could use it and after 6 hours that's all I cared about.

The pastry selection was huge and the size of some of the cookies were bonkers, but the ones we tried were not very good.

The staff was okay. Not super duper friendly but not mean either. I honestly felt bad for them. I heard them chatting with one another about the work and pay and you could tell they are immigrants that are more or less paid scraps... but unfortunately the entire island is just old wealthy people struggling to find anyone to work for them for...

While like anyone who has visited Aldo's, their treats are something that you will come back for every time you visit the island. However, what you may not know is how caring Aldo and his family and friends are to their guests. My wife got extremely sea sick on a cruise from Newport. We took refuge at Aldo's where it was cool on a very hot day. She was having a hard time recovering from the trip and Aldo provided a chair and table out of the main traffic for her to recover. After 2 hours there, he called in family and friends, specifically Russell and his wife. They took time out of their day & went out of their way to provide relief for my wife.
