Absolutely terrible! Service was bad, place was dirty. We weren’t even asked if we wanted coffee or anything else to drink other than the water the hostess gave us. Waitress knew nothing about the menu. A couple of people at my table didn’t even receive their meals yet and everyone else had already finished. The waitress was paying no attention to us, so she didn’t even notice. Never came to ask how things were until we were done, and then we finally got to tell her they never got their food! She apparently forgot to write it down. Never gave us silverware, so I asked for it when our food came and she threw some plastic forks on the table. Real classy! The food was not even good, can’t believe I paid $10 for avocado toast with watery avocado and an unripe tomato! We asked for separate checks and she said she couldn’t do that, although my parents and aunt and uncle were sitting at a different table, and she was able to do separate checks for them. ?? When we got our bill, all it said was “food”…$10.50 “Food”….$11.25, etc. NO description of what food it actually was so it was hard to figure out splitting up the bill. I could go on, but you get the point. Way better places in block island that you could be eating breakfast at! Oh and BTW...

Ernies restaurant is a Classic Block Island Restaurant with a Modern Twist and they are gluten free.

Ernies is a restaurant located on Block Island, Rhode Island. It has been in business since 1946 and is known for its breakfast and seafood dishes.

The restaurant is located in a historic building on Water Street, and the interior is charming, with exposed beams and a nautical theme.

Ernies serves a variety of breakfast dishes, including pancakes, waffles, and eggs. They also have a selection of seafood dishes, including lobster, fish, and clams.

Ernies is a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike. It is a great place to enjoy a casual meal with friends or family.

The atmosphere at Ernies is casual and relaxed. It is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch with friends or family.  The outside covered deck overlooks the ferries coming and going, and a great place to get out of the rain.  The restrooms are compact .

Overall, Ernies is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal in a charming setting. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting...

Ernie’s is one of those no-frills breakfast joints that’s clearly earned its place in the hearts of both locals and early-rising visitors. It’s not trying to be trendy, it’s not overthinking things — and that’s exactly what makes it work.

You walk in and you know right away: this is a spot that’s been around long enough to know breakfast. Friendly staff, a cozy diner-style setup, and food that shows up hot and just the way you ordered it. By the time we were heading out, there was a solid crowd waiting for tables — always a good sign when the locals are willing to wait.

I got exactly what I was in the mood for — nothing fancy, just satisfying, well-cooked breakfast classics. The kind of place where eggs are eggs, coffee is coffee, and everything feels just a little better because you’re on Block Island.

If you’re looking for modern twists and avocado toast with edible flowers, this isn’t it. But if you want a solid, satisfying breakfast in a place that feels like part of the island’s rhythm — Ernie’s...

Perfect spot if you’re looking for traditional diner fare on Block Island.. I took the family here yesterday morning for a quick breakfast before exploring the island.. We got a table on the back deck, overlooking the harbor where the kids could watch people arriving by ferry from Connecticut.. The service was great, the staff and customers polite, and the food hit our table 10 minutes after we ordered!! It’s definitely in the “greasy spoon” category, but if you know what to expect you won’t be disappointed.. Not super healthy, but the turkey bacon was a nice touch.. The kids swear they make “the best” blueberry pancakes, and I’ve got to say I wasn’t disappointed.. The only complaint I would offer is that the coffee was pretty bad.. Could’ve just been the bottom of the pot, but if I want a quality cup of coffee there’s always the coffee shop down the road.. All in all, Ernie’s was a great breakfast experience for the whole fam..
