One of my girlfriends and I went for lunch to catch up, hoped this place would be a great lunch spot.
We were greeted when we came in, were able to seat ourselves without issue as there were only about 2-3 other tables seated.
Restaurant looked clean, spacious, and there was also outdoor seating available. It looks like there's also a big bar as well. While being seated, we saw other patrons being served burritos, the serving sizes were ginormous! They looked amazing, but we wanted to order from the menu instead.
Since my first time, I ordered Chile rellenos and an enchilada to try the food out, and their rice and beans to try as well.
My friend wanted to order a kids meal as she only eats small portions, but they wouldn't let her, nor did they have a la carte serving individual sizes. 🤔 Ive never really heard of a restaurant not offering small sizes for their food, so she went ahead and ordered a lunch special that was a chimincganga, rice and beans with Asadero cheese on the side.
We were served chips and salsa, and offered drinks too. The salsa is OK, a little bite but not outstanding. 3 out of a 5 for restaurant salsa- average. Tortilla chips were served warm, they were good.
Our food arrived fairly quick, the dishes hot! My food portion sizes were really good, decent portions as were my friends plate.
The chicken enchilada was excellent, rice and beans excellent as well. I want a fan of the chili rellenos, as it tasted soggy and also was stuffed with spinach, which I didn't like at all. I had thought on the menu it just said cheese 🤷♀️ but I can't be certain. Also, the texture was soggy, which I can't stand in a chili relleno. The flavor with the fish was extremely bland, not at all worth getting again. The rest of my meal was excellent thought, tasted like authentic Mexican food. While eating the food I thought there was a small hair in my beans, but I couldn't be sure so didn't say anything.
My friends dish she said was very good- right up until she pulled a 4-5 " hair out of the inside of the chimichanga. It honestly made us both lose our appetite, but they did remake her dish immediately. The Asadero cheese was excellent, she said the rice and beans and actually the chimichanga itself was really good.
After removing the dish, we heard the waitress yelling at the people in back, and a fresh plate was brought back to the table in fairly good time.
I couldn't finish my meal, my friend only ate a few bites and we decided to leave. Instead of comping her meal, or even offering it at 50%, they offered nothing.
My friend asked our waitress, "Karla" about a discount, who turned from the table with just a hateful smirk on her face. She asked the manager, who took $2 off the meal 🙄. After the waitress left the bill, she walked away and then made a smart remark to another employee in Spanish. I lived in El Paso long enough to understand what she was saying- so at that moment, instead of confronting her, I just made up my mind that this restaurant has lost my business in the future.
Mistakes can happen, but how you treat customers is not a mistake. ...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I have been here several times and had good food and service. Another note, it has been about a year since I last came here. I recently invited a friend to come have dinner with me. I begin by ordering a basic margarita and then ordering our food, when I received the margarita it had a soapy taste to it, I really didn't want to say anything but I couldn't see spending $9.00 on a drink I couldn't drink, so I explained the situation to our server, who seemed annoyed that I would even complain. He then brings me a new drink... so strong I can't even drink it. As he insistently stands over me asking me to drink and taste it. I tell him I can't drink it, it's to strong. (apparently his idea of fixing a drink is adding extra alcohol, not cool!) When he finally came back with my drink, I was over it all, I didn't even want the drink I felt embarrassed and I just wanted to eat my food. Then the manager proceeds to our table ( again I have to go through what was wrong... this is exactly why I hate complaining about anything) To make matters worse he insists that nobody has complained about soapy margaritas, and why I think it taste soapy, very rude and insistent on asking a bunch of questions. I am so annoyed I told him to just forget it, it's not that big a deal. My dinner guest asked him in Spanish to leave our table and let us eat our dinner in peace. His management skills need to be reassessed!!! The embarrassment they put me through for simply speaking up is something I would never want to experience again. A simple family dinner with a friend turned out to be a very un-enjoyable experience. To top it off, when I received my bill, their it was a $9.00 charge for a drink I didn't drink... Never ever... will I go back to this establishment! Both the management and the server were extremely rude! And I'm embarrassed I asked my friend to join me for...
Read moreWe drove around looking for a decent place to eat in the Smyrna and my wife wanted to eat Mexican. This place has other locations so we assume it’ll be a decent place turns out it’s Friday 4 o’clock there was only one table with Clients . I asked the waiter why is the place empty And he said cause everybody will rush in at 7 PM. Keep in mind it’s 4:30, the pico de gallo was good The water was even better. We had guacamole and queso deep. That was also good but pricey, we order fajitas. Well to make story short. I feel like I was eating at a nursing home all the flavor lacked flavor, but that makes sense since I don’t want the food to go bad I doubt anything is fresh. It’s all frozen. I feel like I was eating at Dennys, you would assume with the average dish around $22. The food was going to be good. We paid 29 for the mix fajita and 25 for chicken fajitas. Unfortunately, I will not recommend this place. Hopefully other locations are better. To management , the place does smells bad when you first come in, here we are 3 months later and the food still Bland and expensive, I can relate to every bad review below, we should have kept driving the black beans from Panera 300 feet down the road taste more Mexican than the entire menu in this place, do Not waste your time and money, the reason I gave this place 3 starts is because they fixed out problem. We came in wanting restaurant food and walked out appreciating ...
