The restaurant has changed name (from New Peking) but it's still under the same management. Price has gone up - 7.50 for lunch. Sushi is added to the menu. Food is average. Staff are not friendly. I give it a 4-star because it has spectacular ice cream - Hershey ice cream cups (including vanilla, strawberry, yummiest chocolate and chocolate mint), creamsicle, fudgicle, fruity popsicles, ice cream sandwich, crispy chocolate bar etc. Their chocolate chip cookies are special - they taste like chocolate chip short cake cookies - really good.
You can get take-outs for 4.99 a pound (no seafood) or 6.99 a pound (with seafood). Well they only have clams, steamed fish, salmon and one type of shrimp which are just so-so. It's pointless to pay 2.00 extra for seafood. Sushi is charged per piece for to-go. Ice cream is 1.00 per item for to-go.
I ate there often as it's the better Chinese restaurant in the area. My young grandchild really enjoys the food and dessert there. No charge for kids under 3.
** take out is $4.99 per lb for lunch and 5.99 for dinner. If you get seafood they charge you extra, very dearly. I have attached a picture of the price list. One time I was at the register, the owner opened my to-go box and used a fork to stir my food to check if I got seafood in there. Very not hygienic and unprofessional. I was in a hurry and I was hungry or I’d just leave. So gross. I reduced the...
Read moreI haven’t eaten here in 2 years since COVID outbreak and thought I’d give it a try. I should have previewed the buffet trays before sitting down. As a previous restaurant owner, I quickly realized the food was stale. The yellow rice was cold and EVERY entree looked like it was the previous day’s fare. Unfortunately for me, I suffered heart palpitations hours later and almost had to go to the hospital due to overdose of MSG in the food. Definitely not the place to dine if you suspect you might be MSG sensitive. I called and complained the next day. So no one would have to endure 35 mins of rapid heartbeat and thinking my heart was about to expire. The woman who answered the phone advised I should have either got there earlier when the food was fresh or ask for food without MSG. MSG is a flavor enhancer used to spike the flavor of food especially leftover food. My heart reacted from an excessive amount of that enhancer. Not all of these types of restaurants uses SO much MSG. My husband and I ate at a buffet restaurant in Vermont while on vacation and had the best lunch. It was freshly cooked, delicious and heart friendly. Not so here! Thank God I wasn’t...
Read moreI feel bad for the poor review, but.... I'm a local for many years and remember when this place was another buffet. Service and Food over time suffered and place closed. It appears new owners or Infusion of money, name change and still same results It's unfortunate. This place has potential to be a great buffet. Service is ok. But food quality has gone downhill fast. I stopped in around 735pm (its open to 930) Place was empty. Btw, I've been in on several occasions and it's usually never busy anymore Used to be, so im apparently not the only person to have decided to move on to other restaurants or buffets in area Only items that looked fresh were the rice & noodles. Everything else looked to be sitting under a heat lamp for awhile Even the Sweet & Sour Chicken was empty with no attempt to refill I get it, why cook something that might not get consumed You can drive few minutes north to Port Orange and find better I wish these folks stepped up their game We need a great buffet...
