I have seen the talent of Chef Scott turn a menu into a venue’s most profitable year firsthand, even during a pandemic! I bartended at 31 Supper Club where before his arrival our cocktails were all the rage, but once he took over and revamped the food menu, the “compliments to chef” comments were a constant! I joined him here at City Market Bistro because I believe in his vision and talent. I’ve been in this industry for nearly 15 years and I must say, he’s a delight to work with. His food is so comforting, fresh and unpretentious. Every time he explains the daily specials we’re sure to get a bit of history behind the dish. It’s people like him that you want to surround yourself with. I’ve gained even more appreciation for the food industry simply by working alongside him. We’ve carefully chosen and trained each and everyone of our staff members based on their warm personalities, ambition to learn, and to treat our guests as if our space was an extension of their home. We’re not AllState, but you’ll definitely be...
Read moreMy husband and I were heading to another restaurant for a quick lunch but it was closed. We saw City Market across the street and remembered a friend had recommended it. Can't wait to return. Lunch was delicious. I chose the small Baby Greens salad, (which wasn't small) because I knew I would be tasting some of my husband's meal. The candied almonds on it were delicious. My husband had the special, which was a meatloaf hoagie that came with a side. He chose the soup of the day as his side, which was Corn and Crab chowder. Just wow!!! The soup was fantastic. I could've eaten a pot of it. The meatloaf sandwich came on a lightly toasted brioche bun and was topped with caramelized onions and a light sauce. The juiciest, tastiest meatloaf I've ever had. They should add this to the regular lunch menu. We'll definitely be back before we...
Read moreCame in for lunch for 2 people. We ordered a grilled chicken salad and burger. While the burger was ok, the chicken on the salad was tasteless and dry. Had to send it back. The second piece of chicken came out dry and rubbery and over seasoned. It was inedible to the point that I had to spit it out. Finally gave up and asked for the bill. The waitress was very apologetic and after speaking to the chef was able to give a partial credit for the entree. The owner/chef should have removed the entire entree off the bill given that only a small salad was eaten and the food had to be sent back TWICE! This was probably the worst dining experience we’ve had in a long time as we usually only eat at restaurants with great reviews. It seems the lunch at this place is not what they...
