Hopefully you'll read this review before eating here.... They make you pay and tip before seeing your food .... You've been warned:
As a Chef, I have to say that the food was utterly disgusting! This is one of those times where I wished I had gone to Starbucks instead of sitting down and eating here! First I will mention the good, the ambiance and music selection was great. That's about it! My utensils were dirty with food specs still on them which means the dish machines catch tray was not cleaned! The food! My god, where shall I begin, the menu makes you believe you're going to get an amazing breakfast, instead you get frozen liquid eggs instead of fresh, the breakfast potatoes were chopped French fries! Seriously, chopped French fries! It keeps getting worse! Now I understand the fact that chances are you have to cook in batches to help the customers move along in a faster fashion, but come on, care a little bit more about the food! Especially for the price you're charging which must be to cover the rent instead of the food quality! The sausage were burnt, the liquid eggs were over cooked and brown, the only good thing about the meal was the pre made frozen biscuit that came with it and the fact that they gave you real butter with the biscuit helped ease the pain from seeing and tasting the horrible food given! I will offer some advice, tell your cooks that if they have no other option but to use liquid eggs in batch, to please add real eggs to it as well as milk or heavy cream to make them fluffy and not have that liquid eggs taste or texture, also to remove it from the flame or heating source so the eggs don't turn brown due to being on a flame for to long, do not over cook the sausage then constantly reheat them as they become hard and inedible, and please do not cook them on a high flame as chances are you are already ordering pre cooked sausage, train your cooks the proper temperature to cook with, and for the love of all culinary gods, please use the correct potatoes for breakfast, chopped French fries are disgusting and such a major turn off! They sell breakfast potatoes frozen already if it's easier, and if for whatever reason the right potatoes didn't come in, then at least serve truffle fries with the breakfast, I know that the owners may not care due to the amount of foot traffic they receive, but even a 10 percent effort will make the food experience so much better! You can see everything that I speak of by just looking at my depressing picture of my food! Immediately in-service the cooks, I would write up the supervisor or manager who is supposed to look at each dish that comes out of the kitchen, I'm more than sure the cooks are union which probably means they don't care which falls on the weak leadership that must run the place! Shame on the owners, managers, supervisors for such horrible food! You guys can do so much better than this! So step it up.... It helps to have the manager do consistent one on one in-services with all staff.... Especially on customer service, train the waiters and waitresses to look at the utensils before they hand them out, that's their job, they should report it to the manager immediately if there are food specs on the utensils, have the cooks be proud of what comes out of the kitchen and hold them responsible, hire managers who have a culinary background to be able to think on their feet if the right potatoes don't come in, hold the venders responsible for not sending the right product, or hold the person in charge of doing the order responsible for not ordering the right potatoes. I say this not only from an Executive Chef point of view, but also as a...
Read moreI frequently fly into and out of JFK Airport. As airport food is already very, very expensive I, decided to try 5ive Steak because for just a few dollars more, you can get a sit down restaurant experience. I ordered the pulled pork sliders, fries and a drink. The drink was prepared very well. Not so much with the sliders. The problem with the sliders was they forgot the pork. What I was served was 3 little buns that were probably as hard as the table I was seated at containing barbecue sauce infused coleslaw. There was VERY LITTLE pork. Only 2 or 3 tiny slivers of pork in each sandwich. They forgot the pork!!!!!!
So what I paid $20.59 for was 3 sliders with a total of about 2 tablespoons of barbecue sauce infused coleslaw and some fries. What made me laugh was there was an option when ordering to not have the coleslaw. Which I'm glad I did get the coleslaw because at least there was something on on the buns besides barbecue sauce. Yeah, very, very poor presentation for the price. You would expect at least a little bit of pork to be on there, not a huge amount because they're sliders, but come on, give me something. Like I said, the bar drink was done very well, the service was good with a nice atmosphere. A great place to relax waiting for a flight. But they they lost me on the food. As you can see in the picture with the slider on the left. I pushed the coleslaw off to show there was absolutely no pork or anything else. It was some barbecue sauce and bread. I think they could have done a bit better.
I'm not sure if I'm going back. Maybe that's just their bad dish. And if I order something else, maybe it'll be better. Maybe I'll give them another try. I'll have to wait and see next time I fly. But yeah, that was very disappointing. It looked like an upscale place instead of airport fast food. I thought I'd try the upscale place. Nope. Better off eating airport food. I'm very...
Read moreOrder number: 250728012000835 . Travel Agent here and I travel a lot and wouldn’t recommend this spot in T5. You Order from QR Code at table which is the norm now. I would have walked out restaurant if I didn’t have family and we were starving due to Flight delay. You Have to pay and tip before even getting your food / drinks. Margarita was horrible, all Lime Juice / No Liquor - so tart had to return. I couldn’t just switch out cocktail I had to “request refund and wait” for credit. And order a beer (which I had to hunt down waiter to bring to me 15 minutes after ordering beer) to wash down the $21 wings and $9 Fries. ($7 glass lemonade on another bill - that kids didn’t even drink) Bar couldn’t (wouldn’t) make an espresso martini- stated there was none. I don’t mind paying “airport pricing” (which is crazy high) for a GREAT product and GREAT service. 5teak failed at all. Other than the nice area to eat inside (away from travelers) I wouldn’t recommend. Grab a coffee and donut instead .. If I realized before you can bring TIP to ZERO and then add later - I would of - based on “Service” $7.27 was an amazing tip to walk over warm food that sat while until it can be “served by waiter” . The waiter was busy cleaning tables and other things and wasn’t much of a “server” . I Tip always - but getting annoyed with the expectation of Tipping before hand or to basically dropping off a plate of food - lack of “service and checking back with guests” . Would like a followup on this quite bad experience...
