The flavors in this place's cuisine are definitely there. Although I did not eat much from this order (more on that in a moment), the restaurant usually makes good food. A downside: don't expect a lot of food. I've ordered from here a few times and I can say not to expect a whole lot of food for the amount that is charged compared to other similar restaurants. I have never ordered delivery from a restaurant and only received an aluminum tray that was half filled. The tray looked like it needed more bulking up. I ordered 3 small palm-sized quesadillas and some fries (okay, the fries were the only unappealing food, too greasy) and at first glance I could not see the third quesadilla (all three sort of blended into each other) and the food kind of all settled on the bottom of the tray. I understand about the rise of food costs, however I've ordered from here since before the pandemic and portions have always been the same so it's hard to attribute rising food costs to the quantity of food being offered in this restaurant. Ordering over the phone can be tricky sometimes but the drink request was really kind of confusing. Everytime I order from this place, I order pina coladas. It is really the only reason that kept me from continuing to order since I generally like to look for dining locations that serve more food. In the past, I was always told that the pina coladas were served without alcohol. That's fine. I don't drink alcohol. Therefore I was all the more surprised when I received a return call verifying my drink order. When I placed the order, despite remembering that the drinks previously did not contain alcohol, I decided to tell the person that I was placing the order with (twice) please no alcohol. I even remember throwing in a "sin alcohol" into the conversation (sorry for my poor spanish). What threw me off was when the person calling me said "you didn't tell me no alcohol". My first thought was: was I speaking to the same person that I placed the order with because person verifying spoke with less of an accent.... Ok! I repeated what I had said when I first placed the order, specifying twice that I had mentioned "please no alcohol in drinks". Honestly I did not understand a callback to verify the drinks if they were sure that they had gotten the order correct. For added measure, I threw in "does that mean the price will be different?" The orginal price that was quoted earlier seemed astronomical considering the small quantity of food that was ordered. The response was "I will check". Still that reply didn't prepare me for the shock of seeing a price of $28 for two pina coladas without alcohol on my receipt when the food arrived. I quickly called the restaurant back to inquire about the price of each drink. They admitted that they had made a mistake with the drink order, apologized and haggled over when I would receive the change that was owed to me (tonight... tomorrow...) . I did receive my change back later on in the night but unfortunately I could not enjoy my meal knowing that despite verifying and telling the restaurant once, twice, three times about the drinks, they still opted to charge me the price of the alcoholic version of the pina coladas. Had I not called to check prices, the $28 would have remained and I would have been billed for something that I did not order or receive. What I tried to eat from this order did seem tasty however I could not complete my meal, wondering if I would really see my correct change. The experience of being overcharged had shaken my trust in this place and left a bitter taste in my mouth. It's unlikely that I will be ordering...
Read moreAfter ordering online a few times and enjoying the food, I decided to stop by the restaurant for a sit-down dinner with my mother. The restaurant was clean and spacious, with music playing at a comfortable level (I was able to hold a conversation without yelling) and TV monitors playing different shows/sports. The staff was attentive, bilingual, and friendly. The space is dimly lit with colorful lights, which can make it a little difficult to make out the menu and check out the decor but that's not really a negative for me.
We received our drinks and food in a timely manner and everything tasted great. We shared veggie nacchos, then I ordered the fish tacos and my mother had Shrimp a la Mexicana. My tacos were tasty but O was full from the nachos so I could only finish one. Turns out it was probably a good thing because my lips and throat started to itch after eating the taco. I'm allergic to shrimp and figured there could have been some cross contamination with the fish. However, I never mentioned my allergy to the restaurant (I usually just avoid ordering shrimp and it's fine) so I don't fault them. I'm including it in my review to remind others to inform the restaurant about any food allergies before ordering.
I appreciate that it's an authentic Mexican restaurant and think it's important to support local businesses. I enjoyed my visit and would...
Read moreOrdered food here from Mother's Day. We had a last-minute impromptu large order of 13 items that we placed with last than 2 hours' notice and surprisingly they still accommodated us. We were super lucky and grateful.
We arrived a bit early for our order pick up and see 3-4 large socially distant tables of families dining in. the staff all hurriedly packed our order as each food item was ready. They triple checked to make sure they didn't forget any of our food. They also gave us free green sauce with our order.
From the large party order, I ordered a chicken burrito. And when I say it's probably the best burrito I can recall having in my life, I'm not kidding. The chicken burrito was loaded with flavorful and fragrant rice and beans, juicy well marinated chicken, and delicious guac!! Yum yum!
We also ordered a specialty item "Mojarra Frita", which we don't normally order but yolo, it's mothers day. It's a fried porgy fish and surprisingly it was pretty good. This order also came with a choice or rice and beans or a salad, as with their other entrée orders.
Not only was all our food items delicious, the quantity and quality exceeds the price point. Aka, huge portions. I would definitely come here again for their...
