Italianissimo Ristorante Cafe Bar — Restaurant in New York

I'll give this restaurant 3.5 stars. First, let me say that I had been to this restaurant two times before, but in a party setting, and I had no complaints either time. However, when I went to dinner Saturday night, I was a little disappointed. The service was a little bit slow, but it wasn't horrible. We did not have to wait too long for our dinners, but that may be because the place was slow at the time. However, it took FOREVER to get the check, and I had to ask the busboy and the manager before I finally received it. That's not acceptable. When I want to leave, I should not have to wait another 20 minutes to do so. Our waiter was very nice, and the other staff was nice as well. The food was good, but instead of giving us spaghetti and meatballs together, which is what I would have brought us if I were the waiter, we received a spaghetti dish and a side of meatballs, which wound up costing much more than what we thought we were going to pay. In addition, we ordered chocolate ice cream for dessert and received one less-than-large scoop with whipped cream on top that cost $9. Totally out of control and not worth it, and they should be ashamed to charge that much money for a serving that size. I’ve been coming here for years. Unfortunately Covid got in the way for awhile but as soon as things calmed down we came right back. There hasn’t been one time where we had even the slightest disappointment in anything we ordered. Year after year the quality of the dishes we ordered were beyond excellent! Living in Staten Island there is a plethora of good restaurants to choose from. Rather than bang our heads deciding which restaurant to go to we have narrowed our choices down to about three places we consistently dine at. Italianissimo is our number one choice for Italian food. This place checks all the boxes from the food to the service to the hospitality. The owner, Franco, even lets me park my car in the lot in the mornings when I have to run in to the pharmacy next door to pick up my prescriptions. I wish I could think of more accolades to rave about but I guess you get the picture what I think...

Update: went back tonight Oct 27th STILL #1…In all honesty I really don’t think I have been treated this good by any other restaurant ever, they have the most attentive staff I have ever experienced so friendly so helpful and the manager I guess or host Lisa was so accommodating to our needs or maybe she is the owner I’m just not sure but she was wonderful. Everything was delicious from beginning to end the bread the salad the entrées the desserts I really cannot wait to go back to this place I truly would not leave such a long detailed review if it weren’t worth it believe me try this restaurant it is top notch a real class act thank you for showing us such a good night.
