On Friday, October 6, 2023, at 4:05 pm, my son purchased a 3 piece whiting fish dinner including collard greens and sweet potatoes. I ate one piece of fish as I ate some of my sides. To my dismay, the collard greens were mostly comprised of starks. There was very few to no collard greens leaves. The sweet potatoes had what appeared to be a long brown stem; approximately 2 inches. I was so disappointed that I couldn't eat anymore. I closed the container and placed it in the refrigerator to return to Bed-Stuy Fish Fry. On Saturday 10/7/2023, at 12 noon, I entered Bed-Stuy Fish Fry, in Coop City, and I patiently waited to speak to the manager. After waiting for approximately 5 minutes (store not busy) a black female, Caribbean accent (later identified as Kay) approached and asked me what I wanted to order. I asked to speak with the manager. She continued by asking me what was the problem? I explained to her that my collard greens was comprised mostly with starks and that the sweet potatoes had something that looked like a long brown stem. I also explained that I had my receipt. Kay took the container, opened it, and she looked at the food with distain. She appeared to have had an attitude because I returned the food. I told her that I wasn't asking for any money and that I wanted some greens without starks and sweet potatoes without stems. Kay further replied that the stem is part of the potatoes. I told her that at no time should a stem be in sweet potatoes. She took the container to a thin black woman and they talked about my complaint. Kay approached me and explained that she just spoke with the manager who said they were going to replace the greens and the sweet potatoes and 1 piece of fish. Kay bought the food to me and as she was placing it into the bag, I asked to see the food. She only put 1piece fish into the container. I explained that I returned 2 pieces of fish and that I wanted a replacement of 2 pieces of fish. Kay sucked her teeth, proceeded to the trash can, took out my container, and bought over to me while loudly saying, "You only bought back 1 piece of fish." I picked up the fish and said there are 2 pieces here. She snatched the container out of my hand and threw it into the trash. I told the thin black woman who was the manager, that I didn't want Kay handling my food. The thin black woman put an additional piece of fish into my container. I explained to the manager, I originally asked to speak with her, and I shouldn't have been treated so rudely by Kay. I told the manager that Kay wasn't professional, she wasn't courteous, and that she shouldn't work the front counter. Kay needs some anger management, and she needs to be retrained. I'm very disappointed with the service at Coop City Bed-Stuy Fish Fry. When I worked in Brooklyn, I always patronized the Brooklyn locations where the staff was always courteous, polite, and professional. The collard greens had very few starks and I never found anything appearing like a stem in my sweet potatoes. I was elated when Bed-Stuy Fish Fry opened in Coop City and I've been a loyal customer. Unfortunately, the incident I experienced today has me doubting if I'll...
Read moreI visited the store after convincing myself that maybe the second time would be better than the first. As I was ordering and asking questions, all I can feel is hostility in the gentleman's answer to my questions. Fine maybe he's having a bad day. I ordered two meals Along with a red velvet cake and then asked about the cornbread. "Do I get cornbread with the meal?" The response was yes you get one per order. Meaning that regardless of how many meals I order I only get one cornbread. I responded and said if I pay them separately, can I get two cornbread? The lady said sure, and then the woman behind the council with a mask on the face Interrupted and said I got it. Let me take care of him. She grabbed another cornbread, put it in my bag rang up. The food charged me had me sign the credit card part of the bill and gave me the receipt. I asked for the receipt that would show me the itemized cost of everything that I was charged. She then went and gave me that And after reviewing the itemized bill, I see she charged me a miscellaneous cost for some cornbread. She must've thought I was stupid and somehow felt compelled to ignore my concerns regarding the cornbread. I immediately asked can I get my money back? Someone with more authority came and said sure will give you the money back for the cornbread and I interrupted and I said no I want a full refund for the food. This was a matter of Principle and I felt disrespected that the woman would think that she can Disregard my issue with the cornbread and charge me for the cornbread. I eventually got my refund after waiting there for 10 minutes because they have no system in place to refund you as if you were in another store and wanted a refund. This will be the last time I go to this location or any of their locations because I know now it's only wishful thinking that I will see the type of customer service that any person would expect spending their money for food at any establishment. I try to make a concerted effort to support small businesses, especially small businesses owned by people of color and find myself disappointed time after the time Because I remember a time when I can go into establishments like Copeland's on 145th between Amsterdam and Broadway and receive the type of service that we all should be given. My people please find ways to do better. Thank you a long-standing member of...
Read moreI ordered the catfish, cabbage & yams and I was really impressed. The Catfish was seasoned perfectly and so meaty. Loved the yams & cabbage as well. Didn't care for the yellow cake with chocolate frosting because it had an almond flavor but the half & half was good. I will definitely go back to try something else. The only thing that I am going to complain about is the young lady at the registers attitude, it was giving bad customer service vibes. Pt. 2 Went there today 5/3/2024 & ordered a Catfish and a Whiting Dinner one with Mac & Cheese, the other with Yams & Greens. When I got home my Catfish was soggy because of all the water from the greens which was disappointing. The taste of the greens & yams were good. All in all the food was ok. Now on the other hand the little girl at the register is extremely rude and this is the second time I experienced her nasty attitude. I asked her one simple question about doubling my bag and she started flipping about how she heard me the first time & continued to go back and forth with me. She went over to another young lady and whispered something in her ear which was extremely rude and the other lady came over and finished servicing me. If this young lady doesn't know how to deal with the public then perhaps she needs to be placed out of site because some other customers may not be as calm with her nasty attitude. Not sure if I want to patronize a business that has no respect for...
