The workers at this establishment are very judgmental towards me because I’m a revert Muslim and they always discriminate me whenever I order food. I used to give this location at least 3 to 4 times a week business spending around $60 a day, and I never had any problem with the spending, but the problem lies with how the workers they’re treated me. If you observe how they serve the portions of the food, they will put One full scoop of chicken on the bowl but then for the second scoop they’re going to pick up one or two pieces of a cut chicken and act like they’re putting two scoops but they’re not. The guys from the register have the gloves on their hands and they’re using the same hands with the gloves to pick up the shredded cheese and add all the vegetable toppings, which is why I never get vegetable toppings from them and I just stick to the chicken because the chicken will not be touched directly with their hands nor the melted cheese. For the first year or two years, I gave them more than thousands of dollars in business, and they always gave me a bag with the handle without any issue. I ordered lots of food and I cannot carry all those food unless I have a handle on the bag and if I request them can I please get the bag with the handle. They say those are for Uber eats orders only and we are not gonna give you special treatment and give you the bag with the handle and if you don’t want to come here and purchase food, just don’t come here again. They also said our boss does not want to give back with the handles to you. They have a Long Island city location as well and the staff have more class and etiquette than the people here. I told him and I addressed them you guys are discriminating me. I come here all the time and spend thousands of dollars for the food, but they don’t care because they’re just the workers so they are going to discriminate who they like. They’re not making any proper from the business other than an hourly wage, but this does affect the owners business when you have judgmental staff like this. I’m very observant when I see how they serve the portion so if there’s like a long line, and if there’s a girl they like or something, these guys are willing to give above and beyond without even charging extra, they give me all the extra charges I don’t care I have the money to afford it It’s not about the money but the way they treat me when I come with respect is not correct . The owner of this establishment should really treat these guys how to manage the business properly. He should have one person on the food and one person on the register and have the people rotate the gloves not work which just one glove and one hand it’s like every time I go there I have to tell them please wash your hands and change your gloves, I care about hygiene and I don’t wanna get sick and I think that’s why they take offense. I don’t mean any offense. This is just the proper etiquette when working in the food industry. I’m extremely disappointed on how I was treated there and I was discriminated. I am a Muslim but because I’m a revert , they just seem to discriminate against me and not like me. All I’m doing is ordering a food and they say we don’t get paid enough for this. I always pay for extra toppings. I’m willing to pay for everything but it’s not sensible for one person with 4 to 5 orders to carry everything in one paper bag handles are important if I’m taking the food to go. It’s extremely cheap and then they told me never come back again for the food. I can literally see the bag of handle in the store, and I addressed that they are lying, and they always do this with me, and they always discriminate me. I’m sure the owner can review the cameras and see how his staff behaves they give special treatment to the people they like and whoever they don’t like they try to cut corners give the bad quality food so I recommend no one to go to this location. There is a twisted Mexico, not too far away, which has much better, Halal, Mexican food and Muslims with...
Read moreIs it inedible? No. Is it enjoyable? Also, no. The shrimp is flavorless. The tomato "sauce" is actually tomato sauce which blew me away because I would never add that to a burrito.
Have you ever had a bunch of stuff In your fridge and said, "man, I'd like a burrito!" And then you make a burrito with it? That's what this is. It's like a drunk person took a bunch of random stuff and threw it together. I'd review the chicken, but I cannot recall the taste of it. We ordered nachos, a burrito and a burrito bowl. The burrito is 8inches long so if you have no taste buds but prefer quantity, highly recommend that.
In terms of seasoning and spice, the overwhelming seasoning was salt and seemingly only salt. There was a level of "hotness" to the meal however I wouldn't refer to the food as spicy.
This is like if you got Chipotle and they only had leftovers from 5 days ago and threw it together for you, adding sauces made from canned goods.
Did we eat the entire meal? No. Would we order again? Also no.
I wouldn't call this Mexican food per say. It's like if you described Mexican food to someone who never had it before and they tried to make it knowing nothing about Mexican food.
This is probably "great" if you are drunk (like almost unconcious) or high (like very very very very high, not just buzzed, like you won't remember bad it is because you're that zooted-high) but if you have tastebuds of a child or better, I would steer clear.
We gave them 2 stars because they didn't get the food wrong because the food was technically as we ordered it, it's just that the...
Read moreSo, let me tell you about my mind-blowing experience at Hot Pepper in Astoria. Seriously, they totally crush Chipotle, no competition.
I went all out and got a burrito bowl that had half grilled chicken and half honey chicken. Then I loaded it up with queso sauce, cheese, jalapeno, tomato, lettuce, and this incredible mango verde sauce. It was pure perfection!
Everything was ridiculously fresh. The lettuce was perfectly green and crispy, the chicken was cooked to perfection, and the tomatoes were just right. Oh, and the fact that they chop up the jalapenos? Genius move!
But wait, there's more! Hot Pepper doesn't just stop at amazing food. They've got an awesome selection of Jarrito sodas. Now, I'm not usually a soda person, but come on, you can't say no to a Jarrito. And the staff? Super friendly and helpful. They walked me through all the soda flavors like I was their long-lost buddy.
Hot Pepper is all about the little details and delivering top-notch quality. The flavors are mind-blowing, and the presentation is on point. The vibe there is laid-back and energetic, making it the perfect spot to kick back and enjoy a killer meal.
So, if you're up for an epic food adventure that will blow your taste buds away, you need to hit up Hot Pepper in Astoria. Trust me, you won't regret it. They take things to a whole new level, leaving Chipotle in the dust. Don't miss out on the awesomeness that awaits you...
