Burly Coffee — Restaurant in New York

Bad coffee and the worst service I’ve ever experienced in the city. I asked the female barista behind the register what she thought was the best latte and was recommended the pumpkin spice latte because the syrup is housemade. I then asked how many pumps or ounces of syrup they typically put and she said “i don’t know, a normal amount” ??? I told her I don’t like sugary drinks and requested it half sweet. When I tasted it all I could taste was syrupy milk so I asked again if it was made half sweet and the male barista who I believe made the drink looked right at me but did not answer, and the barista who took my order said yes. I responded that it’s very sweet and she ignored me. I went back in line to order an extra shot to try and salvage the drink and the barista rang it up as $3.99. I asked if this was the cost of adding a shot to the ($7.75) drink I had already ordered and at that point the male barista interrupted and said yes. I responded politely that I’ll pass and the male barista responded “well coffee costs money!” As a current bartender and former barista I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and care by both of them. I love the simplicity of the food as well as the atmosphere. Waitstaff was friendly. Really clean and open space. A nice place to grab a coffee with a friend or sit down and do some work. Clean bathroom. They offer a variety of pastries. I had the blueberry scone as well as the golden latte. I don’t drink coffee, but I definitely enjoyed myself at this coffee house. I absolutely love the concept of having crossword puzzles there. If you’re going to take a date for morning, coffee. This is the place. You can spend an hour just laughing, some coffee, and enjoying a word puzzle. even the punchcard was cute, the punchcard is a guy holding no coffee. Atmosphere and my drink (frozen coldbrew) was good but the man who works there wearing a mask was so rude to my mother in law. He was complaining about how he will need have a " really hard time throwing out the trash today" because my mother in law poured extra coffee to add oatmilk (which she specified when we were ordering- it was HIS mistake not listening to our request) and if you dont want people pouring coffee somewhere 1) have a sign! 2) listen to your customer's request!
