My wife and I were in need of a Christmas Tree and this hardware store had a very nice display tree. We asked the advice of the employee if they had any trees that would look like that one for sale. He responded that one if the trees that they already had wrapped up was the same type of tree but would take some time to settle before it looked like the display one. Fast forward a week, the tree has lost most of its pine leaves and never "settled". We saw other ones that were not tied up that looked much better than this one turned out, but regretfully took the employee's advice that the one sold to us would look best. I have always had real trees for Christmas, so it’s not a case of not taking care of the tree. It was basically dead and raggedy to begin with. My wife went by today to ask for a replacement as the tree that was sold to us was unacceptable. The employee there asked: "so why didn't you bring it back?" She let him know that a store employee told us it would take time for the branches to come down to their settling state, which never happened. The employee replied, while his voice was getting louder and angered "Once you open it that’s it. Nothing we can do. The same way you bought it from us is the same way we bought it from the vendor." Basically, they sold us a tree with totally different information than what my wife said when she went back.    Read moreMy family purchased some small items from the owner of Do It Best. He gave us 1 that was the proper size and the rest that were similar but the wrong size and simply a different product. We had to return to the store to exchange it once we realized the problem. At that point he refused to straight exchange and wanted us to pay extra/more for the correct items. It was rather odd since the owner was the one who rang us up and handed us the wrong items in the first place. Ideal customer service would be to acknowledge you made a mistake, apologize, and hand the customer the new items rather than insist on extra payment and rely on "that's store policy" to rebuff...
