This review is specifically about the person who answered the phone on Monday, 8/4, around 6 PM. My husband had an absolutely absurd experience with her. She displayed a considerable amount of attitude and clearly needs training.
My husband had ordered food but mistakenly entered the wrong delivery address, which is only about eight minutes away by car. We contacted Uber Eats, where we placed the order, and they informed us that we needed to call the restaurant directly. No problem there.
When we called, the woman immediately interrupted my husband as he was trying to explain the situation. She repeatedly informed us that her delivery drivers don't go to our neighborhood. As he attempted to provide her with the correct address, she kept cutting him off, insisting that it was too far. We clarified that we don't live in the area she was assuming, but she continued to interrupt him.
We have ordered from this restaurant many times before (I even checked to see if it was in fact from Uber Eats and yep, July 4th), and we were hoping for some understanding. Instead, she maintained an attitude, insisting that her drivers wouldn't deliver to us, even though it is only a 13 minute drive. When we asked what our options were, she informed us that she would be calling Uber Eats to let them know her drivers wouldn't deliver to our address. We were stunned by the unhelpfulness of the person on the other end of the line.
Instead of providing solutions, such as holding the order for us, explaining any changes in their delivery parameters, or giving us the option to cancel, she offered us nothing to work with.
I called Uber Eats again to express how ridiculous the situation was, and they were apologetic. They placed me on hold while they contacted the restaurant. Guess what? The representative informed us, "She will not deliver to your address, and if you cancel, you will be charged since the order has already been started."
After waiting outside the other address for over 30 minutes, we realized no one was going to show up. We called just to double-check before leaving, only to be met with attitude—literally a scoff and the sarcastic remark, "You still want this?" Seriously? We would’ve canceled if we could, but it made no sense to lose money and walk away with nothing.
When we finally got to the restaurant, my husband tried to speak with someone in person, hoping for some clarity—but was met with the same dismissive energy and an added “sir” that just dripped with sarcasm. He asked for our food and left, and realized once we were home that they managed to forget our baked beans. At this point, we lost our appetite.
It's unfortunate because we really enjoy the food from this place, but the staff, specifically one person, left us with a bad impression.
We’re not ones to leave negative reviews or create drama, but I felt it was important to share in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. The whole experience was chaotic, unprofessional, and left a really bad taste.
I understand this review is lengthy, but I hope it illustrates the stress we experienced.
The moral of the story is: if you no longer deliver to an address, that's fine! Please just...

As far as stars go I'm between 4 and 4.5 - but I'm not ready to bump it up to 5 until I go back and check out their "Meat Candy" Beef Burnt Ends and their "Butcher Bowl" (mashed potatoes, fresh corn & jack cheese topped w/your choice of Smoked Pork or BBQ Chicken.)
Last Saturday I came here for dinner with my fiancé after a fun filled day in Brooklyn. We were planning on going to one of my favorite Italian food restaurants but the MTA had different plans for us so we decided to go here. He had been here for cocktails and I had been here...never - although I truly, truly, truly regret not checking them out back when they were BYOB - (RIP because now they sell booze themselves).
As my entree I ordered their Half Baked Mac & Cheese off of their appetizer menu. They describe it as being their famous creamy mac & cheese, oven baked in a cast iron skillet topped w/ grass fed beef chili, bacon bits & jack cheese. I asked for the chili on the side because I worried that if it was too spicy then it would ruin the meal for me.
The waiter asked me if we were sharing it and I responded back that I was gonna treat this cheesy sucker as my main meal. He was concerned that I wouldn't be able finish it all on my own. He also stressed that this was a serving for two and that I would not be able to handle it all on my own...yeahhhh...he clearly doesn't know me, lol. I stood firm in my order.
My sweetheart ordered their Smoked Ribs. There are two options here - House Dry Rubbed and Fall Off The Bone Sauced and he opted for the latter. On BB's menu they are described as being "smoked til they fall off the bone" and "sauced just right". He gave me a rib and I've gotta say, IT TOTALLY FELL OFF THE BONE aaaaaaand WAS SAUCED JUST RIGHT!! Lol. These ribs are easily in the top 3 ribs I've ever had at a restaurant. Yes, they were that good.
My mac and cheese was delightfully creamy and I'm happy to report that while the beef chili had a little bit of kick, it was totally fine for me! Trust, my tolerance for spicy anything isn't great and their chili was super flavorful and generously meaty. The mac also came with crispy bacon bits (of kind of thick cut bacon...sooooooo not complaining here!) and was really good without being overpowering.
We also shared sides of mashed potatoes and their french fries (go hard or go home, amirite?). The mashed potatoes were really delicious and made chunky with the skins on - just the way I like em'. The fries were unbearably salty for me. I could barely get through 4 or 5 before throwing in the french fry towel. I did like that they were clearly hand cut, with the skin on and rather thick. Just a little less salt tossed in next time would make me a happier camper.
Both my fiancé and I really enjoyed our meal here. Even though it was like a 20 minute wait to get a table - it was a Saturday around 7ish - so totally understandable. Everyone was great from the hostess, to the bartender, to our really attentive and personable waiter. Great service, great food and located in a fantastic location.
I love you Butcher Bar and I can't wait...
Read moreI truly don't understand the hype/rave reviews. Maybe because I'm spoiled from having recently eaten barbecue in the Carolinas or maybe because I visited the restaurant on a Tuesday at 8:30pm and that's just not when they do their best work? Whatever the case, the food here felt very just "meh."
But let's start with some positives: service was great. It seemed like there were only two waitstaff on the floor (one primarily at the bar), and they were doing an excellent job at handling the 6/7 seated tables, plus bar clients. Drinks came out on time, recommendations were given, orders were placed correctly. 5/5 for service. Decor and ambiance were also pretty cool; everything on par with what you'd call ~swanky BBQ joint. We loved the cleaver (?) used as the door handle.
We tried: "Fall off the Bone Sauced" Smoked Ribs 1/4lb Pulled Chicken (Sauced) 1/4lb Smoked Beef Brisket Brussels Sprouts w/ Applewood Bacon Applewood Bacon Baked Beans Creamy Mac & Cheese Cornbread w/ Honey Butter House Slaw & Pickles
Unfortunately, by the time we got there, the burnt ends had run out.
The ribs were incredibly tender; fall-off-the-bone as promised, but not quite "sauced just right," as they were drenched in sauce. The brisket, while also tender, was lacking in flavor, and the chicken was a little dry (additionally, didn't look very much like my idea of "pulled"). Of the sides, the Brussels sprouts were hands-down my favorite and the only side I would probably order again. The mac & cheese was dry, the cornbread chewy, and the baked beans were too vinegar-y for our tastes (and we weren't expecting the big chunks of onions and peppers). Even the slaw was a disappointment, as the cabbage was shredded into large pieces and didn't really have that "wet" feel of a good, mayo-based coleslaw. To top it off, nothing came out warm; and no one really wants to eat room-temp beans, mac & cheese, or meat. So, y'know, it was "meh."
I wouldn't ever make it a point to return to Butcher Bar, but if I was brought here again, I'd be able to eat...
