Calle 191 Pescaderia — Restaurant in New York

On Saturday September 11th, 2021 at 9:30pm passed by there to eat with a friend, we sat and placed our order, at first the waitresses, were very polite when they came to take our order. After 10 minutes we still had not received our drinks, until we asked. we sat there for another 50 minutes, (50 Minutes- more than 3/4 of an hour) waiting for our food. And even after all that time still no food. it got so bad that the waitresses seem to be ignoring our table. a couple of people sat on other tables, after we arrived and they received their food, but not us. I found it very rude especially when happening in my own neighborhood. I've live in Washington heights more than 35 years, and every time things like this happen it's usually some form of discrimination, I am black after all, Dominican, but black. This was my first time there, and I guaranteed it's the last time, no if, buts or maybe, about it. I sat there, with bugs crawling over my arm and neck, roaches on the walls!!. I felt uncomfortable the whole time, but was willing to ignore the discomfort, just to try the food. I will never recommend this restaurant to anybody. And to top it off, I was given an attitude and over charged for the drinks ( chinola drink, ginger ale and a corona). NEVER AGAIN. If I could give a negative star, I would,...

Don’t be fooled by the positive reviews, this place deserves a zero. After an hour wait, I finally received my food, to my surprise the restaurant did not follow the instructions selected on the delivery app. In asking for a fried red snapper, I received a boiled snapper with pool of salty “gravy”. The smell was unpleasant, and the taste was disgusting. Prior to the review, I called the restaurant to ask, not for a refund but for my food to be redone and resent, Instead of an apology, I received reasons as to why I received the food the way it arrived, I patiently repeated myself again, even ask to speak to the chef, was giving more reasons and was told I would be charged to have my food redone. I’ll be calling my bank to void out this transaction not...

I used to enjoy coming to 191 Pescadería, but lately the quality of the food has dropped tremendously. The freshness, flavor, and attention to detail that once made this place stand out just aren’t there anymore.

Another major issue is the service at the register. I’ve noticed that the cashiers treat customers differently based on how they’re dressed. If they assume you have money because of your clothes, they don’t hand you your change — instead, they quietly put it into the tip jar without your consent. Tipping should always be a customer’s choice, not something taken without asking.

It’s disappointing to see a place that had so much potential decline like this. I hope management addresses these issues soon, because right now it’s hard...
