It's an ok playground. The water features are fun for little kids, but are kind of sad and pathetic if you think too hard about them. The toilets are closed more often than not, and water leaks everywhere. Trash builds up and is rarely emptied. Water pools up near the trash making exciting puddles of filth. The swings were recently replaced for no reason with inferior ones, and are only small baby swings. That said, I go with my daughter nearly every day because that is where her friends play. The play structures can be fun, with the traditional slides and climbing structures. No adult exercise equipment means no weird adults hanging around like at javits down the road. The location of the highest natural point in Manhattan, which is a small rock to climb. I large grassy area and a spot for soccer. Commuters from the subway need to realize kids play there and stop barging through. And parents should really stop their kids from barreling down the paths on scooters. But a nice play to go, if not as nice as the newer...
Read moreThis is a wonderful park. As per a marker on the group, Bennet Park is the highest natural (i.e not man made) spot in Manhattan. Their is an outcropping of rock that is fun for kids to climb on. Their are also cannons and some information about the areas involvement in The American Revolutonary War that is interesting to history buffs .
The park is two blocks from the 181st A train subway stop. Parking can be difficult to find.
Bennet Park has both a park area and a playground area. The playground is still closed but hopefully will reopen next Monday when Phase II will start in New York. This park is a central meeting spot for people in the area and is worth a trip for people from outside the...
Read moreBennett Park is so nice, definitely a gem located within the Washington/Hudson Heights neighborhood. It's so lovely in the mornings, very quiet and serene. The park has a little something for everyone (dog owners, families, groups of friends), and I love that they hold events here for the community on a routine basis. The only negative (in my opinion), is the lack of grassy areas. There are patches of grass throughout the park, but I was definitely expecting more grass than what is present. Overall, the park is very well-kept and seems to be cared for regularly by NYC's...
