Checkers — Restaurant in New York

I would suggest NOTTT eating here!!!! I walk in and first thing I see is 2 school girls ( 15 years old at most) vaping their lungs away behind a wall that is not in sight of the cashier. I order a checkerburger and a spicy chicken burger mix and match deal for $6(as advertised) and the total comes out to $5 and some change. I thought maybe she took the order wrong since the total was less than the advertised price but she said “it’s actually only $5 plus tax”, oh well, I guess that’s a win for me (or so I thought). I go out the store with my food open the chicken sandwich and take a bite and all I get was bread and oil. It was so oily that it HAS TO be sitting in a pool of oil waiting to be picked by some unlucky person in Jamaica ave. So I threw it out and went in my car with the burger in the bag. BRO the smell that was excreting from that bag smelled like playing defense on a shirtless homeless man while he’s posting you up trying to draw the and1. So I take the burger out and I swear the meat had a yellowish tint to it(I wish I took a picture but I was in such disbelief I just threw it away the second I saw that). Something needs to change over there before...

This visit on 10/12/24 was wonderful. The server was attentive and efficient, even assisted me with the app (most servers at this and many other restaurants just know nothing about their own company's app!). I don't know his name but have attached a photo of the top of my receipt.

My previous visit approx. 1 week ago was abysmal. I had to repeat my order 3 times before the server understood me (I do not have an accent or speech impediment, however if the guy had listened instead of talking while I was, perhaps he might have understood me better). Then, after I ordered over $25 of food, I asked for a cup of ice and the lackwit told me it would cost $1.40!!! I bet he'd have tried to givr me the smallest cup for $1.40 and I know my $1.40 would have gone straight into his pocket. This is the closest Checkers to my house and I've used this location and three others over the 10+ years and never been charged for ice...

The service is great, employees generally have good attitude, but they seem to always want to up sale or something, when I just wanted a double Buford combo with the exact same price on the price tag, they keep asking me large fries and large drinks? Which they would charge more WITHOUT notifying you!! Last night they didn't even ask me for the drink size and charged me for a large seltzer water(I can't even finish this size) and my total was $14.14 for a double Buford combo, I could easily get a better quality burger combo at halalbees or eat & bite for this price, the large fries they gave me isn't even large.
