I had the opportunity of checking out this local Bronx Pizza Shop & Restaurant on a whim while walking back from visiting another restaurant nearby. Happy to have glanced over, I decided to stop in because the energy and atmosphere of this establishment was open, peaceful, welcoming, very well maintained esthetically and busy with many community locals and families stopping in to grab their favorite eats. After chatting it up with a few of the customers about what was good to get and viewing the menu carefully, I decided to try a slice and some baked ziti with parmesan chicken.
The Cheese Slice at this establishment is one of the best I've had in the Bx. The Dough, to Sauce & Cheese ratios were great. The dough was cooked well done and not overly dusted with flour residue, the undercarriage of the pizza was great also. I appreciated that the dough wasn't to thick or too thin. The Pizza was crispy as I ordered it and not floppy, soggy or falling over like some slices could be. The sauce had a bit of sweetness with a hit of tang that balanced very well with the mild notes of the cheese used to make the pizza. There was a great amount of cheese on the Pizza and it was Cooked well and not too greasy. I elevated my slice even more by sprinkling a bit of oregano & light garlic powder to bring all the flavors together. Even the crust of the pizza was good. I would give the slice a 4/5 and will be purchasing more pizza next time I visit. (Pizza Slice Price: $3.50)
The Baked Ziti with Parmesan Chicken and side of italian hero bread was cooked to order and piping hot when I received it. I appreciated that the Chicken wasn't overly bulky within the meal and cooked well done & sliced down how I like it. However, I would have loved to tasted a stronger Parmesan flavor profile within the chicken. The Pasta was cooked al dente, the marinara sauce had it's own distinctive flavor and the cheese on top was delicious. I got the bread toasted, but next time I'll just keep it sliced without heating it up. Overall, I would give my baked ziti experience from this restaurant a 3/5. I would have loved to have tasted more flavors brought through the ziti sauce maybe with a hit of fresh garlic, basil and herbs infused into the sauce to kick up the experience. Or maybe next time, I'll just request the herbs to be placed into the sauce or add it myself. Definitely can't wait to try some other delicious eats from this establishment in the near future and wish them all the best serving great food to many people from all walks of life. Read moreI was looking for a good pizza place online close by and came across the wonderful reviews on here for Circle Pizza. I almost ordered delivery but didn't want a whole pizza so opted to walk over. SO glad that I did because I got to see how dirty the place is and how they make their pizzas. First of all, if you order a veggie slice they do not have it pre-made. They don't even have a glass display to put their pizzas inside, garlic bread and other items. Everything is sitting on a table in the middle of the kitchen. Back to the veggie pizza slice. They take a cheese pizza slice and put whatever toppings to make the slice that you want, then stick it in the oven for a few mins. They also use their bare hands to put all of the toppings on which is really gross because they also use the same hands to open doors, cupboards and containers. On top of that, the tables are dirty and you can tell they hardly clean the floors and the garbage bins were overflowing. There were at least four people working in the kitchen. I can go on and on, however, I won't be returning here. Filthy is an...
