4 Easy Cocktail Recipes To Impress Your Friends At Home This Summer

An upper/upper middle class exclusive New York club based on membership. I was lucky enough to dine there and had a marvelous meal. The service was well beyond friendly. Tipping is not allowed so l was sad not to be able to recognize the great , friendly and gentle service provided by our originally Greek waiter.

This private women’s club on the Upper East Side harkens back to more refined and quainter times. Very expensive to join and not open on weekends. Also closed all summer long. Loved checking it out though and would never turn down an opportunity to visit or attend an event there but I don’t fit in - not my tribe.

My 84 year old aunt just met friends for dinner here. What an atrocious experience. First of all--this is written into its DNA, but what a gross, elitist place full of uptight, mostly white people, except for the service staff. Second of all, the doorman (who is also white) is rude--barking orders, not calling a taxi (basically his main job, besides keeping out non-members), etc. I was going to wait for my aunt in the building while she had dinner, but I was relegated to hanging out in the lobby, drinking water in the bathroom out of a dixi-cup on a 100°+ day. Which brings me to my last point, which is that the dining room was a swamp of heat & humidity--I wouldn't have wanted to stay there even if I'd been invited. I can't imagine anyone paying money to "belong" here. I hope this place dies out along with the Boomer generation. Only reason to join is for some bizarre UES...

I am from dear old England and remember visiting the cosmopolitan club , along with my twin brother Jeremy, on a summer holiday as 16 year old cousins of my late Connecticut aunt, Flora Strauss in July 1984, whom were staying with on vacation. We met her for an excellent lunch - I remember the grand buildings, but we had no idea how grand the club was , until we arrived somewhat underdressed, in jeans, sneakers and T-shirt. Somehow, security managed to let us in , to meet our aunt, provided we tried an assortment of Augusta style 'green jackets worn at the Masters, until they fitted and were eventually allowed in for lunch. Cheers, ...

The food was absurdly poor for a place so expensive. We had several vegetarian party members and they had no vegetarian option, which they didn't tell us but instead just brought out a single potato and a few string beans on a plate without comment or apologies. The potatos were overcooked and the string beans were drenched in butter. The beef wellington was good but not enough to compensate for the slow, uneven delivery. For a starter salad they gave the vegetarians unadorned mescaline greens even though there was avacado in the regular ones and plenty of options for them to provide. Really shockingly...
