The location of the restaurant is very convenient for everyone, whether you drive or you take the MTA. It is in the heart of queens between Northern Blvd. And Crocheron Ave. As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, with a moderate style.
I visited the restaurant yesterday and overall, I was satisfied. At first, I was scared to try the seafood, considering, preparations can go wrong although the chef has blown my expectations. All the cuisines were freshly made, and the chef definitely gave the homemade feeling using the best quality ingredients. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starter. I had the potato pancake(in the photos) with the shrimp tempura as an appetizer. I first found the potato pancake as a funky type of appetizer, but it turned out amazing. As you can see in the photo, the oyster came out in a beautiful presentation, and it tasted as good as it looks. The main course was exquisite, steamed spicy braised seafood. All the products and dishes had a warm and homemade feeling. The dishes also had a tasty juicy feeling that everyone loves in their seafood. I definitely, would come back to this restaurant considering I also saw that there’s is a lunch special EVERY DAY from 11...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem. You walk in and you immediately get treated by the gracious and hospitable staff. The seafood is amazing!!! The steaks are really good. Normally you find this level of quality in a high end expensive restaurant around park avenue. But here you have amazing seafood, steaks, and traditional Korean dishes. If you manage to get a private rooms downstairs you can enjoy your meal in traditional fashion on the floor with back supported cushions. The bar selection is another surprising aspect of this place. When you look at what’s available it’s quit amazing. When I went I had an amazing experience and is definitely a spot I will revisit myself and any other interested in good food and good service.
I don’t know how the owner did it but this place is a definite hit.
Update: 8/27/19
Went back and the food and the dishes never stop to impress me with their levels of delicious flavors.
Whether you are looking for seafood or meats This place has it all at high quality. Dokdoya continues to be a hidden gem. This place needs to branch out and take over more places in queens and city. Also reach out further and give people the quality they deserve in excellent food and prompt...
Read moreWhere do I start... I've been to jeju Island restaurant and dongwon sushi&tuna. My favorite was jeju Island for awhile but their quality of food was declining so I decided to try dokdoya tonight. First off, so called "banchan" or "sekedashi", which means side dishes that comes along with the platter that you order on live sushi and seafood (활어 & 해산물), were the worse quality from all the sushi places we have been to. Wow, there was no consideration for neatness in serving nor was there any quality on these dishes. I usually get full from these small dishes because they are so good BUT dokdoya serves dishes just to meet the numbers or "appears like you are getting served." Dongwon and jeju Island serves much better Banchan and sekidashi that you feel like you spend your money well. The serves kept on insisting to remove dishes that were not finished to make room on the table for what...nothing! I didn't understand why the servers insisted continually on removing the dishes without asking...! Although they were not good to enjoy, I could still have grabbed a bite or two just for variety! In conclusion, I will not go back to dokdoya. I would rather visit dongwon or jeju....
