The location of the restaurant is very convenient for everyone, whether you drive or you take the MTA. It is in the heart of queens between Northern Blvd. And Crocheron Ave. As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, with a moderate style. I visited the restaurant yesterday and overall, I was satisfied. At first, I was scared to try the seafood, considering, preparations can go wrong although the chef has blown my expectations. All the cuisines were freshly made, and the chef definitely gave the homemade feeling using the best quality ingredients. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starter. I had the potato pancake(in the photos) with the shrimp tempura as an appetizer. I first found the potato pancake as a funky type of appetizer, but it turned out amazing. As you can see in the photo, the oyster came out in a beautiful presentation, and it tasted as good as it looks. The main course was exquisite, steamed spicy braised seafood. All the products and dishes had a warm and homemade feeling. The dishes also had a tasty juicy feeling that everyone loves in their seafood. I definitely, would come back to this restaurant considering I also saw that there’s is a lunch special EVERY DAY from 11 am - 2:30 pm.

This place is a hidden gem. You walk in and you immediately get treated by the gracious and hospitable staff. The seafood is amazing!!! The steaks are really good. Normally you find this level of quality in a high end expensive restaurant around park avenue. But here you have amazing seafood, steaks, and traditional Korean dishes. If you manage to get a private rooms downstairs you can enjoy your meal in traditional fashion on the floor with back supported cushions. The bar selection is another surprising aspect of this place. When you look at what’s available it’s quit amazing. When I went I had an amazing experience and is definitely a spot I will revisit myself and any other interested in good food and good service. I don’t know how the owner did it but this place is a definite hit. Update: 8/27/19 Went back and the food and the dishes never stop to impress me with their levels of delicious flavors. Whether you are looking for seafood or meats This place has it all at high quality. Dokdoya continues to be a hidden gem. This place needs to branch out and take over more places in queens and city. Also reach out further and give people the quality they deserve in excellent food and prompt polite service.

This is a long overdue review! I came here with my husband and my parents to celebrate mine and my father's birthday a couple months ago. I think we ordered one of the hweh (raw fish) specials and did not realize there would be so much food!! We all definitely had a blast. We had plates after plates after plates of food and even before the main hweh platter came out, we were full already from all the appetizer/sides. The hweh special is really great for large groups of people. The one we ordered is probably good for 6 people. I took off a star because my dad and my husband had a terrible terrible stomachache the following day after eating the raw oysters :/ which my mom and I did not eat so we were fine. Everything else that was raw was very fresh and it was delicious.

I had a hankering for sushi but it was so late, luckily we drove by this gem of a place. The sushi. Is. So. Fresh. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and patient with the way we kept Pointing and the stuff we wanted on the menu. Alright on to the food!! The food was super super fresh, smelled so sweet and portions were huge!! We had an assortment of rolls, and they had fatty tuna (otoro) sashimi, and oh my god, like butter! They don’t skimp on the amount of fish in the rolls and sashimi, the Korean glass noodle entree was enormous, we had to take it home haha. But really, open late at night, super fresh fish, huge portions!! Can’t go wrong with Dokdoya!

I guess I had way too much expectation of this place. Their side dishes were just fine, , nothing special compared to other Korean Hwae (Sashimi) style restaurant. As you can see, those parts (fatty tuna, belly, jaw etc) are high quality and fresh but they need to work on balancing. It was just way too much fatty after more fatty. I wish if they offer more other way to enjoy those pieces not just a seaweed. And balance them out with lean-mid-high-otoro like that. With that price over $150, I don’t know if i would go back this place just for that side dishes and bowl of rice(not even in hot stone) with spicy fish stew at the end to be honest.
