This is far and away the best place for samgyeopsal that my wife and I have been to in this country. I think it is about as close to what we experienced when we lived in Korea that we have found. The service is very nice and friendly, but like many places around, they do pretty much all of the cooking for you. What really makes this place stand out is that they do not rush you at all. You can order more food at anytime, and hang out for as long as you want. They understand how to adjust the temp on the grill so that your food cooks quickly, but then does not dry out so you can take your time eating. When we visited, they asked if we were ready for the next meat we ordered before they brought it, which again really lent to the feeling of being relaxed and not rushed. We also ordered hangjeongsal, which was frozen, but still tasted great. Banchan is pretty standard. There was even a soju girl that came in while we were there, passing out gifts if you ordered a bottle of Chum Churum. It really felt like being back in Korea. This place is the best place in the city for BBQ, and well worth the trek to Flushing if you are not already in the area. The nice thing is it is literally right next to the LIRR Broadway stop, which makes the trip a little easier. There are also plenty of Norae Bangs and Hofs in the area if you want to make an...
Read moreAcross the LIRR Broadway station, we have a small mom and pop restaurant specializing in Korean grilled meats on a dome cast iron. More sear on your food which is great for flavor. But keep in mind, you sacrifice the charcoal flavor for the sear. The restaurant is cozy and catered more to locals than tourists. The seafood pancake is solid, crispy and delicious. The quality of meats are above average but expect to pay more. The banchan selection is limited here but you aren't here for that! You are here for their pork belly! The meat is placed in center of vegetables and as it cooks the juices will be soaked up by the bean sprouts and kimchi. The vegetables become more flavorful with a decent caramelization. On a side note, I had better LA galbi and duck in other places that are more affordable. If I had to do it over again, I'll stick to the thick pork belly and bulgogi. Btw the fried rice option goes well with the bulgogi but it's pricey! Service was attentive and quick. Lots of free street parking if you go after 7pm, otherwise you might have to park walking distance away or pay...
Read moreI had never heard of something called a black pig pork belly before until my friend mentioned it. Imagine my surprise to find out that I didn't live that far away from this place, yet I've never been before. Looolll
Anyways....went to the family and everyone really loved their black pig pork belly! I personally could not taste the difference between the regular pork belly and the black pig pork belly, but everyone said they thought the black pig pork belly tasted better in a blind taste experiment, so clearly I'm not the one to double check with, so this review is based off of the fact that I thought it was delicious and everyone else liked it also. It was very busy, but it seemed like everyone was having a great time there. They also make the left over stuff into a fried rice that you can add other things to like spam, fish eggs, and eggs and stuff. So that was a delicious ending to the dinner. Definitely recommend stopping by. It's not super fancy looking, but the food is...
