Iâve been an Eggerâs customer for so long, but Iâve been going for the past several years more out of name loyalty for my son to enjoy more than for any other reason. Every time I leave, I feel I unsatisfied and honestly, totally ripped off.
The prices are so high that sometimes Iâm sure they must have made a mistake on my check. In addition, the service has always been quite abysmal- slow and cumbersome. Itâs always a long wait and having worked in the service industry for more years than I can count, I know what good, attentive service is, and itâs not found at Eggerâs.
I already wrote this place off because I was feeling so ripped off for so long, but my son wanted to have one last hoorah before we move away. We took his friends out for a little pre-birthday ice cream tonight and it was pretty busy. We sat in the new table section and 5 of us ordered. We waited longer for the ice cream than it took for us to eat it, and it came out all melting and messy, one by one, not all together. The first person to get theirs was done before the last person got theirs.
But the real kicker tonight that really made me mad was that our table was cleaned right up and they quickly had us pay and told us that we needed to leave because they had large parties waiting. Ooook. The kids were there so I wasnât going to make a scene in front of them, but it was so unreal that after paying over $60 for our ice creams, that we werenât allowed some time for the kids to talk and enjoy their time before we were told they needed the table. Mind you, we were there for maybe 25 minutes altogether, again, waiting for the ice cream longer than it took to eat it.
So it seems to me that Eggerâs is totally fine with having people wait for subpar and melting ice cream, but when they say itâs time to go, itâs time to go, because other people canât wait a few minutes until the table becomes available.
This is terrible customer service, and all it does it make a person feel like all they are is a big dollar sign to them. Especially when the delivery of the news that you have to leave comes with zero care or compassion. Just, âWe need the table so we need to ask you to leave.â
LOL No problem. Weâre gone! And how disappointing as a final visit for my son to his favorite ice cream shop.
Sorry to say I wonât be missing Eggerâs Ice cream or atmosphere, and I wonât be coming in when we visit. Iâd much rather pay less and eat outside with Ralphâs or Carvel-...
Read moreI brought my class of 7 special education students to Eggers on a class trip last week for what I thought was going to be a fun-filled celebration. However, a few mishaps occurred, some greater than others, that I feel need to be surfaced for the public to be aware.
The day before our confirmed event date, I received a call stating a new hire double booked our class with another school. No problem, I understand that these sorts of things happen sometimes and we were asked to arrive a half hour later. I said we would try but the buses were already secured for a certain time so there was no guarantee. I was reassured that even if we were to arrive early, that they would accommodate.
Fast forward to the following day, my class arrived 15 minutes after our originally scheduled appointment time (so 15 minutes âearlyâ based on the call the day before). As soon as we arrived, two associates immediately confronted and began screaming at my class to âGet out, get out, get out. You canât be here!â. Taken aback at the horrific customer service, I immediately turned around and began to usher my students back outside to the sidewalk. As we walked out, Anna came to us and politely asked if we could wait 5 minutes and they would be ready for us. As I spoke with Anna, my students who were still outside began peering into the window and were repeatedly reprimanded for simply looking into the store by the same two associates who confronted us earlier. If not for Annaâs calm demeanor, I would have ended the trip right on the spot.
As for the trip itself once we were in, Anna was a fantastic and engaging tour guide despite her colleagues repeated efforts to derail the trip with their awkward glances. Even though we were ultimately accommodated, the first impression coupled with the general feeling of being unwelcome there made my students anxious and defensive, questioning whether they were being discriminated against. I did call the manager (a female) to express my concerns following the trip on the same day. They took my information and said they would be in touch for âwhat they could do for usâ. One week later, and I have yet to receive that call back.
I expressed that I was not looking for and still am not looking for any compensation. All I want is for the two clearly disgruntled employees to simply do better and understand how to treat young children and for the management to follow through on their word when customers...
Read moreUsed to be one of my absolute favorite places to get late night snacks. Lately every time I call to order pickup Iâm put on hold for 10+ minutes and nobody comes back. Last time I called to place an order for pickup, I was on hold for 10 minutes before I used someone elseâs phone to call. I was still on hold on my phone while placing an order on my friendâs phone that was answered immediately. It just goes to show that leaving customers on hold is a reoccurring and inequitable process. Today I hung up and called back and the person who answered the phone was extremely rude and told me to order online that they wouldnât take my order over the phone. I explained that I wanted to pay cash, and ordering online costs more, but I guess cash is no good here unless youâre ordering in person.
When I got there, there were 7 or 8 workers at the counter, three of them just watching the others work! The three workers had walked past me numerous times and didnât pay me any attention, they had time to walk to the back to have a laugh though! I also had asked about the phone situation when I got there to pickup my order that I had to make online. I was basically told it was my fault and theyâre not allowed to take phone orders anymore! (You should probably take the phone number offline then, you might also lose your older customer base that donât use internet!) The workers were very argumentative and when Iâd expressed that this wasnât my first instance where this has happened with the long wait on the phone with nobody coming back they had no response! Itâs really sad to see such a great staple of the neighborhood plummeting downhill! This is probably going to be my last trip here and I typically come once a week. The ice cream is great, but it isnât worth the headache and being treated like you donât matter...
