Ordered my birthday cake and the baker was so nice and took time to answer all of my questions. It was the first time trying this bakery. I wanted a pineapple flavored filling. I don't like big chucks of pineapple so the baker understood and made a very nice filling with very small pieces of pineapple which was exactly how I wanted it. The cake wasn't overly sweet and perfect but very filling as the ingredients are rich. The icening was a light whipped consistency. It was the most beautiful cake that I've ever had. See my pictures attached although i dont think the pictures did it justice. Myself, my family and friends really enjoyed it. The baker also accurately informed me of how many people the cake could serve. I will be returning. The servers were so nice.

I generally come to this location for the coffee and tres leches cakes. However their service is horrible, as there is such a language barrier. They also listed egg and cheese on a roll and listed the price as $6 + tax however when ringing up the check it came out to $7.03 which does not calculate correctly. I would check your order price to make sure they aren't pushing an error or price gouging. I didn't care much for the $0.47 and gave it to the tip jar. It's just the principle of the matter. Generally this location has wonderful Columbian coffee.

Small bakery in Richmond Hill with a simple, clean interior and cases of pastries. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a coffee since it looked like one of the more welcoming places on the block. Got an ice coffee and was surprised that they use coffee ice cubes, not just regular ice cubes! Loved that extra touch to make sure your coffee doesn't get diluted. For an area where coffee options are few, this took me by pleasant surprise. The staff at the counter was friendly and I want to come back to actually try some of the food!

El Cafetal Bakery & Restaurant is a sparkling gem in Queens, where the Colombian spirit comes alive in every bite of freshly baked bread and every sip of aromatic coffee! This family-run Colombian business carries the warmth, passion, and traditions of Colombia, transforming every visit into an unforgettable journey through the flavors of Latin America. From the moment you step into this cozy establishment, you’re enveloped in a homely atmosphere filled with tantalizing aromas and the genuine smiles of a family that has poured their heart into their craft. The baked goods here are simply divine! Quesitos, with their crispy crust and delicate cheesy filling, melt in your mouth, while guava pastries are a sweet Colombian delight you can’t resist. Pan sobao, soft and airy, pairs perfectly with morning coffee or a hearty Cuban sandwich, served with a generous portion of meat, cheese, and Colombian love. The tres leches? It’s a dessert that whispers, “This is the taste of home!” The savory menu is equally impressive: mofongo with a Colombian twist is a true masterpiece, and the rice with beans and fried chicken from the hot bar feels like a warm hug from family, prepared with soul. The coffee – a point of pride for the family – has a rich aroma and flavor that transports you straight to Colombian coffee plantations. And the freshly squeezed orange juice? It’s like sunshine in a glass! The interior is enchanting: modern, clean, with vibrant Colombian accents and spacious tables that feel comfortable whether you’re dining alone or with loved ones. The staff are true stars, many of them part of this extended family, always ready to recommend something delicious and envelop you in warmth, as if you were a guest in a genuine Colombian home. Opening at 5 AM is a godsend for those eager to start their day with authentic Colombian flavors. El Cafetal is more than a bakery – it’s a Colombian family tradition where every visit feels like a celebration. Whether it’s a quick breakfast, a family lunch, or a sweet break, you’ll find delectable food and the vibrant energy of Colombian culture. If you haven’t been yet, run, don’t walk! This is a place where your heart sings and your taste buds dance the salsa. 10/10, I’ll be back again...

If I could give them a 0 I would... I called 20 minutes before to place my order to pick up because I had my little puppy with me and I know they don’t accept pets inside (I know, it’s understandable) but then I get there and I’m telling the lady I placed my order 20 minutes ago to pick up and she tells me they don’t have it ready, I’m like it was only 2 avenas (which are already made) 1 empanada and 1 arepa.. is it so hard to just pack my order? And on top of that, the lady comes and tell me ‘your dog can’t be here, that’s the rule’.. I’m like ‘miss I called 20 minutes ago telling you I have a dog with me so I will like my order to be ready for me to pay and go’.. But she started arguing plus my arepa was cold and avenas tasted like they been in the refrigerator for a while. Bad experience, they need to fix their priorities with...

The pastries are pretty decent but the owner/manager is very mean and nasty. I was a regular customer but one day i went there with my friend and ordered a pastry and coffee. My friend had half a sandwich from her lunch so we sat down and started eating. We were the only people sitting there and the manager came out and started yelling at us. I was so taken back since I always went there and everybody is usually really nice. He started yelling and kicking us out for bringing outside food. Instead of telling us nicely, he came out guns blazing cursing at me in Spanish meanwhile i am a Spanish speaker myself. He judged me because I looked white. I will never go back there, i rather give my dollars to the small businesses who value hospitality and customer service. Their pastries sit out way longer then they're...
