As usual, delicious food, and service with a smile. Sunday night nobody wants to cook. We settled on Salvadorian food. Pupusas de queso ($2.00), chicharron de pollo com hueso, sopa de res con tortillas. The pupusas hands down as real as the ones back home. The chicharron de pollo is not truly a Salvadorian food. However, its tasty, tender and the chicken is well seasoned. It comes with a side salad, rice and beans for $9.00 Tamales de elote made with a lighlty sweet corn masa, served with fresh made crema. Savory sweet and the tamal has the texture of a cross between souffle and mousse. The corn tamales can either be an appetizer or dessert. The cheese pupusas are gooey in the inside and the corn masa is very flavorful. I can eat pupusas all day..you also get a side serving of pickled cabbage and tomato sauce. Always ask for the salsa picante is made with scotch bonnet peppers, garlic, onion and cilantro. I put the sauce in the tomato sauce for the pupusas, the soup and yes with my beans. By the way if you pay with a credit card and you eat in the restaurant they automatically add 115 gratuity to your bill. In all a very pleasent experience and fantastic food. Dont be afraid to visit the hot buffet and check the daily specials. The soup had large pieces of beef on the bone with veggies ( corn, yuca, carrots) in a very rich beef broth. If you are in the mood for beer they have a good selection heineken, negra modelo, coors light. Every once in a while they change their beers, just ask to see...
Read moreI have been going to this spot for years and always recommended this spot. Today I was extremely disappointed. Order delivery which is 10 mins from my place and took an hour. When it got here, the maracuyá was 90% water. Not what it looks like when you get at the restaurant. Beans had not a single sprinkle of seasoning. Pupusas were burnt and dry…. And I received no toppings for my pupusas. It just felt extremely lazy and dissatisfying. Will not recommend this spot going forward. I have been going here for 7 years and have always had a good experience up...
Read moreThe only reason I keep coming to this place is because it’s conveniently on the way. The couple on the register always an older lady and a old man (Ramon) are just incredibly RUDE. I’m coming in to BUY my food not BEG for food. Now they started charging people an “Open food tax” on top of the regular state tax. I have called 311 and nobody has any information as to what this is, therefore I have made a report to the NYC tax and finance office about this possible scam. I would advice everyone to check their receipts!!!!! I’ve included a picture for...
