I checked this place out after seeing it in The New York Times' list. The ambiance fit the neighborhood with young owners, outdoor seating, and even a backyard like eating space. The entire place was well-lit and all the pans of dough were out in plain sight.
You've got like 8-10 varieties of slices, some plain, some Sicilian. There is a hallmark $7 clam slice with lemon, but I did not try it. Maybe another day I will.
I got the plain pepperoni and red Sicilian. Both slices were plenty crispy and delicious. The slice was on the greasy side with a crispy undercarriage and crust. I honestly would have gotten a different Sicilian slice (found out I'm not the biggest fan of the topping) but it was a huge slice. Honestly the Sicilian slice is probably enough to sate a person. It was a masterwork in texture: saucy on top, airy in the inside, and crispy in the floor. Really made it delicious despite my not being the biggest fan of the topping. And they don't skimp on the toppings in the Sicilian. The stuff was just falling off it.
I will also note the customer service was excellent. They gave me new slices after the original slices slid off the tray slightly. The owners have standards from the top, and it showed with their act.
This is a rare pizza shop that I discuss where the ambiance even made it great. Sure they're not old guys making pizza in a place out of 1950, but it was a very positive well-lit space, with a bonus backyard for high-quality slices. Also the prices were more than reasonable, it was $10 for the two slices...
Read moreIn mid-December 2024, I had a very enjoyable visit to F&F Pizzeria, located in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. It’s earned a reputation for serving exceptional New York-style pizza since its opening in 2019 - and it hit on all cylinders!
Using top-notch ingredients like Bianco DiNapoli organic tomatoes and Frankies 457 Extra Virgin Olive Oil, along with their signature natural fermentation process, the chefs (co-owners Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli) craft a menu of pizzas that are both delicious and innovative, yet still celebrate tradition.
I came in on a cold Monday evening, and along with my wife, sampled three different slices:
*Regular Slice - Bianco DiNapoli Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Sicilian Oregano
*Clam Slice - Fresh Clams, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Breadcrumbs, Fresh Lemon, Red Chili Flake, Fresh Parsley
*Partanna Slice - Red Onion, Mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Calabrian Chili, Orange Blossom Honey, Sicilian Oregano
All were excellent, and I cannot wait to return for some whole pies someday soon.
Others I would love to try include…
*Hot Sausage & Sage - Frankies Hot Sausage, Bianco DiNapoli Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Brown Butter, Sage
*Sausage and Broccoli Rabe - Frankies Sweet Fennel Sausage, Broccoli Rabe, Mozzarella, Ricotta, Pecorino Romano, Sicilian Oregano
*Cacio e Pepe - Mozzarella, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Pecorino Romano, Fresh Black Pepper
F&F is located in a converted garage between sister restaurants Frankies Spuntino and Franks Wine Bar.

Read moreCame here for a lil snack while waiting on our table at Lucali. I only heard of this place via One Bite Reviews (shout outs El Pres), and it's only 10 days old. Pizza wise it's one of the better slices in the city. Both cheese and pepperoni slices were great. Nice and thin crust but with just enough to give a bit of body and chew. Sauce was just the way I like it. Pepperonis were nice and crispy. Some parts were bit more charred than it should've been but for the most part it was well cooked. Overall fantastic.
Service & business wise it was a bit confusing with them only serving limited slices (we got the last two cheese, and they were only allowing pepperoni slices, no whole pies). Did see the pizza shelf occupied by two full tomato pies, and a pepperoni pie, and some various slices stashed away under the side counter. Not sure what was up. Hopefully this end cleans up nicely in the next couple of weeks as they mature in business. Didn't bother me too much but saw others that were super cheesed.
Would...
