This bar is an absolute gem. The ambience is warm and inviting. It feels like a cozy living room with eggplant purple walls and wooden decor, but it’s not pretentious. The bar itself is the perfect size and there are a few lovely nooks you can squeeze yourself into for a game of chess or a hushed conversation. Then there’s the music. Dude, the MUSIC. The music is always fantastic. I'm a bit confused by the aggressive one-star reviews about noise. I like this bar because the music is consistently the perfect volume. I have some auditory issues and I typically find it very challenging to communicate in bars, but at the Filthy Diamond I have always been able to easily have conversations. Whether it's 7pm or 1am. (Also, side note: if you live in New York City, don't complain about noise. Move somewhere else.) The drinks are fairly priced and really delicious. The clientele is pretty diverse. Everyone I've seen is generally in their late 20s to late 30s, but within that age range, there are folks from all different backgrounds and walks of life. You'll always meet someone interesting if you're looking to talk to a stranger. And finally, the woman who owns the bar - she is honestly one of the best bar owners I've ever come across. She's professional, kind, and so chill. She has a super calming energy that really sets the scene for this place. You feel it as soon as you walk in. I highly recommend Filthy Diamond for all of your Brooklyn bar needs. You can go there to gab with the girls, have a quiet drink and read a book, or sit and chat with a new friend. When you go here you are...
Read moreFilthy Diamond is truly a one of a kind space. The community cultivated by the fantastic staff is incredibly welcoming and inspiring. From live music, to killer DJ sets, to chess nights, to the arcade games in the back, or even just chilling in truly the coziest backroom ever (literally feels like my living room), there’s something for everyone. I’ve also met some of the most interesting people here—the hang is an extremely heady brew of artists, musicians, DJs, writers, poets, theater people, industry connoisseurs, literally any creative profession you can imagine. I feel so grateful and honored to count myself as part of this community, it genuinely feels like home—safe, joyful, inclusive, and...
Read moreEverything is so great about this place except the music is WAY too loud, even if it’s good music, I’m not there to listen to loud music from speakers(more understandable if playing actual live music people go there to listen, like Jazz night is great). Please, turn down the speaker music. People are there to talk and enjoy a nice drink after work. Can’t even think. The only place I can sit and unwind is the backyard.
You’re my best local bar and I would love to go after work and enjoy a drink or two, but I have hesitated more than a few times simply because of the volume of...
