I love this food!!! This neighborhood used to have great West Indian vegan food that I loved. Imhotep's was a legendary spot that closed 10 years ago. So, I was excited to hear about Ginjan opening a Brooklyn cafe with authentic West African fare. It’s not just vegan, they have chicken and beaf and fish on the menu, but they also have a bunch of vegan options. My wife and I shared two; a creamy peanut butter stew called Tiga and a vegetable bowl called Jollof. We loved both! Peanut butter stew seemed simple…everything gelled perfectly. The vegetable Jollof was more eclectic with beans and potato’s and cabbage and other veggies. But everything tasted great over yummy “broken rice.” Just be careful with the hot sauce on the side. The barista pulled the espresso perfectly. Everyone where I used to live always found a way to eff up a macchiato. This was the best macchiato I’ve ever had, I’m still thinking about it every couple days!
If I went earlier I also would’ve found out they serve more than coffee here. The bowls and food offerings looked delicious. I wish I visited more often before moving. Don’t be like me, check it out! They have a very spacious interior for seating and...

It was also a turn off that they didn’t have Splenda or any other sugar free option for sweetener. I don’t know if it was the coffee or the girl didn’t know how to make it. They also didn’t have 1/2 the things I asked for on the menu. I was terribly disappointed. I’d go back because the WiFi was great but I’ll eat beforehand. The girl was nice but I gave a 2 for service because she served me cold watered down coffee and didn’t have...
