This is one of the few neighborhood supermarkets that is reasonably stocked.
Unfortunately there are also many flaws that are hard to ignore: -Lot of product on the shelves is past its due date. Always check. They don't seem to do so themselves. -A vast majority products are not labeled at all. I regurlarly return items at the cashiers when it turns out that a product is not priced to my liking. It's an annoying inconvenience and I suspect this is a strategy to charge more because people might not have picked up an item knowing the actual price but shrug it off when they are a the check out counter. -The prices are more often than not horrendous. You will notice when you find out that the same almond milk that you can buy at Wholefoods for 3,50 Dollars is sold for 5,60 at Metropolitan Citymarket.
This place clearly needs some decent competition which would motivate them to become more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stopped eating my salad with the rotten tomatoes in it, that i bought from this market to write this review. Oh by the way i also just threw out a pack of chicken that said it was packed on 1/2/19 and good until 1/9/19 but it STUNK to high heaven. Items here are always expired, i have had to walk back all the way from home to return spoiled goods. Im sure this is because this place is so overpriced the things go bad and they still keep the price high and nobody buys it. 10 dollar jars of coconut oil?!? Its 5.49 at trader joes. The meat section, horrible. Ive given this place so many chances because its near home and sometimes going to trader joes is just tiresome. But i wont be going here anymore unless i truly truly have no other choice and it wont be for any items where freshness could be questioned. I hope they read this and make...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were just visiting for the week but found this to be a very well stocked local market. Having shopped at similar places in many countries and counties, we were surprised at the selection.
Prices varied from āoh noā, high to ādang I wish I could get this price at homeā, low. We found everything we needed at good prices and were treated with welcoming friendliness.
The egg & cheese with bacon is delicious and at $4.00, a great deal. If we lived in the area we would likely do ābig shoppingā At a larger store with overall lower prices and use this as our local place to pick up immediate needs. The sandwich/food counter has a large selection featuring Boars Head meats, so the quality is on point. We will be packing sandwiches for the plane ride home.
Overall a...
