I went in to the Green Pavilion but not to dine. They are one of the few places that have the NYS Lottery. The proprietor is a chauvinist and might as well be living in the 17th century. I asked him if he could do both Wednesday and Saturday for Powerball and lotto and he thought that meant doing it for up to 26 weeks. I told him that I was referring to advanced play. Advancing it from the present Wednesday to the upcoming Saturday. He couldn't follow what I was saying. One of his employees a huge hulk kept asking me I wanted a quick pick for the Powerball. I said yes even though it was clearly marked on the card. The final straw that broke the camel's back was when I handed the "hulk" bother the Powerball and Lotto cards at the same time for Saturday me back 2 Lotto tickets instead of 1 and no Powerball ticket. I couldn't argue even though I knew what I'd given him. What is is that passes for brains? The who thing was stressful especially as it was another $2 down the drain. I keep ...
Read moreI am only basing my review on the diner alone as I didn't check out the sportsbar on the other side of the restaurant. Looking at this diner from both the inside and outside, you can see that this place needs some major remodeling. Everything on the inside looks quite dated, but overall, it is clean. The service was pretty good, and my food came out fast, in spite of me being the only person dining at the time. I ordered the veggie omelet with home fries, and it was not bad. The only thing is that they over buttered the toast where it didn't melt, and it left a bit of a greasy taste in my mouth. They have a pretty decent sized menu with reasonable prices. From what I can see, the sportsbar is pretty hopping early in the morning during breakfast time. I guess it is true...it is 5:pm somewhere. Overall, I would come here again if I am passing through to get a quick bite to eat, just nothing with toast...
Read moreI have eaten here for years. I love diners and this one is well-worn, but has character. The food is always reasonably priced, satisfying, and portions are generous. I love the Greek-style side salads, and their meats are excellent. One of my favorites is Steak Tips over Rice. Yum! The owner, Adel, a distinguished, older Egyptian man, is almost always here when I visit. If there is ever anything wrong with a meal, he is always happy to fix it. This place is a fixture in this neighborhood and deserves love. The only reason I didn't give the food 5 stars, is it's diner food, and the large menu they have to deliver places constraints how they can prepare certain things. They have a lively in-house catering business in their back room, which is often busy on weekends, hosting quincinieras, and other local...
