Came here for lunch on a Friday during my lunch break. Outside seating is cute, spacious, and well heated. Got to sit next to a well behaved dog which was a plus. I ordered Greta’s Breakfast inside and the food came out rather quickly. Absolutely fresh and delicious. Healthy without leaving you hungry or … cold like after you eat a salad when you really want something hot. I love fried eggs more than anything so two of those was a plus. Normally I view potatoes as a waste of time and space (sorry!) but these were melt in your mouth and spiced deliciously. With the labneh and egg yolk, it was one of my favorite bites of the year so far. And for a crisp contrast - a refreshing portion of Israeli salad with red bell pepper in addition to the usual tomato and cucumber which I thought was a nice twist. And last but not least, what I turned into edible utensils, the toasted pita with zatar. Mmm! Such a lovely combination of flavors and a rainbow of bites for lunch or breakfast. So satisfied and definitely coming back to eat my way through the rest of the menu. Staff is super friendly...
Read moreGreta’s is a Greenpoint staple. It’s so high quality and delicious! Everyone I bring there loves it, too, and it’s the once place my parents request returning to when visiting from out of town. Their coffee bags have also become a favorite family gift around the holidays.
The owner is so hard working and clearly cares about the staff, food, and her customers. I was particularly moved when my dad complemented her on her quality of zaatar and she gave him a container of it to take away. I once also had a website glitch where the site accidentally placed two orders and she was easygoing about refunding me the extra order - customer service excellence in action.
Another thing I appreciate about Greta’s is the sense of community. Regulars can easily build relationships with the staff and I’ve always had positive conversations with new and old neighbors when sitting in the outdoor seating area.
Thank you Greta’s for all the great meals! Sad to be moving out of the neighborhood, but know I will be back for the excellent sandwiches, wraps, soups, eggs, and - of...
Read moreI live in the neighborhood and was surprised to see this pop up since there are (with no exaggeration) 8 coffee shops surrounding Greta. I haven’t had the food yet but my girlfriend has and she’s been pushing me to go back for brunch. I have had the coffee though, which I was very happy with. I drink my coffee black so it’s very apparent when it’s not good like a few of the surrounding shops and I’m quick to put it in the trash on my way out and never go back. I’m looking forward to another visit and to try some food.
The reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is for a less dramatic response to the street parking. I drive and the parking here has gotten impossible. The parking under the BQE will no longer be free and there isn’t a place for all of us to park. Greta takes up quite a few spots as do many of the other businesses. I am however aware that these businesses need the outdoor areas to survive over the winter with the Covid mandates. Someone needs to come up with a better plan for these outdoor spaces...
