[JUNE 6,2024 EDIT] - This is my 2nd appointment with Sayu. I wanted a big change from a micro bob to a pixie but was not sure if the pixie I had in mind would work for my chemically straightened hair. Sayu and I had a great consultation discussing some of the modification from my reference photo to achieve the sillouette, movement and style I was going for. Sayu is genuinely a warm and lovely person. She made me feel comfortable throughout the change. I was really nervous about going for a pixie given some bad pixie cuts in the past but felt I could entrust her with this change. She worked meticulously, checked in between to let me know the different stages of the cut. She gave me such a detailed tutorial on blowdrying and styling that I was able to recreate her style the following day after washing. The cut looked so so good with just the right amount of edge I wanted. This is my favorite haircut to date. I'm glad I booked last minute appointment with Sayu. She's so skilled and somehow she has the understanding to make the cut work great for me. The best takeaway was how comfortable the process. [FIRST REVIEW 2024-05] I was having a bad day and cut my own hair. It was a bad idea and my hair needed fixing ASAP. I booked an appointment online and chose whoever was available for the following day. I liked all the reviews on google. I do prefer Japanese hairstylists in general to cut my hair. I find their scissor technique suits my straight and super fine hair type best. I came in to meet with Sayu. She was so incredibly lovely and not judgmental at all for the attempts I made at cutting my own hair. Also before the appointment my hair had undergone grown out bleaching and color, a digital perm with some awful razor layers, and a recent straightening. Sayu carefully took note of the hair damage, looked over some reference photos of what I'm hoping my hair would look, and discussed changes that we can do to achieve a cute blunt micro bob that would grow nice and feel comfortable as I grow my hair out. She checked in with me on the length of hair being cut, spent a good deal of time to fix my crooked bangs. At the end, she also showed me how to style with the hemp hair wax they had in the salon. I ended up purchasing the Takeo hair wax. It smelled amazing. The following day the cut looked amazing after a shower and air dried on its own. I do think it's all from Sayu's scissor skills. Haircuts can be a daunting task when you have curly hair (paying a premium for curly cuts, building a relationship with a stylist you trust, finding a convenient salon, etc). I passed Eshk walking through the neighborhood and decided on a whim to call and make an appointment. My curly hair was tired and in dire need of a cut. The whole experience was beyond exceptional. Kaori got me an appointment the day I called and could not have been more pleasant to talk with during my appointment. She was prompt and personable; we talked through what I wanted out of my cut. She was thorough in understanding my curl pattern and how I liked to wear my hair naturally. I felt very at ease in her chair and very happy with my cut. Best of all, the appointment didn’t take hours like I’d grown used to with highly skilled stylists I’ve used in the past. My curls are healthy and gorgeous, even after my first wash and dry at home.
