Complete disappointment, how anyone gives this place a good rating is beyond my understanding. If I could give this place less than a star rating I would.

I don't know if we just came on an off day or what, but ordered 3 arepas and it literally took them more than 30 minutes to get us our order.

What we ordered:

“Chevere - Perico, paisa cheese and black beans”

What I got was a plain egg with cheddar cheese and black beans, which I could have got from my bodga for $4, there was no onions or pepper or any flavor added to the eggs it was not paisa cheese it was completely bogus served on an undercooked arepa. Bland and boring.

“Mariscada - squid, shrimp, and mussels in red tomatoes sauce”

what I got a whole two small pieces of shrimp that and including all the seafood in this dish not fresh and was clearly previous frozen, some watered down tomato sauce and literally raw arepa dough on the side not even cut and didn’t bother to provide utensils. Didn’t bother to finish this because it was so bad.

“Pernil - pulled juicy pork shoulder with spices and cheddar cheese”

at least they got the cheese right on this one, but it wasn’t even melted and where was the “spices” this was completely bland and flavorless and served again on an undercooked doughy arepa.

I was pretty excited to have an arepa place close to home but this place is just terrible. The bartender was very sweet but doesn’t make up for the terrible food. I’ll just have to travel up to Caracas to get some descent...

We found out about Guacuco a month ago and since then we have visit the location at Irving Bk, where not only food is great but the staff is amazing! Today, before the snow storm, my boyfriend and I decided to get groom from Guacuco. This time however we were closer at the throop location, we went in and ordered our food, the guy that helped us was not as friendly as the people we are used to, however we didn’t put much thought to it, time went by and we realized that 40 minutes had passed, notice that at no point we were offered a “tour food would be ready soon” or a “sorry is taking longer” we weren’t even acknowledged; my boyfriend decided to ask the guy how much longer our order was going to take because we had been waiting more that 40 minutes, the guy said I don’t know, let me check; but the way he said it, it was definitely not the way you should approach your costumers. When finally our food was ready, the guy just placed it at our table and didn’t even say anything, not even a thank you for coming or sorry for the wait. We will not judge the whole company just for one person, however, WE WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS...

I came here in February and enjoyed the brunch food. Since then I decided to call in and go back today, however the phone was hanged up on me while trying to confirm that brunch was taking place. I find this to be unprofessional and would not come back because of this. After speaking so highly of the food to my out of state friends who came to visit, and for that to take place was distasteful. I wanted to believe that the disrespect was not intentional and tried calling back to be sent directly to voicemail. This allowed myself and out of state friends to believe that it was intentional. I would give a two star review, but decided to be fair in regards to their food. If you are looking for a respectable establishment, I would probably take my business elsewhere.

SN: The reason why I called to confirm that brunch was being served is because I previously tried to visit the establishments a month ago prior to my friends arrival and was told brunch was only served on...

The food here is amazing! I’d come back any time, any day. Guacuco was actually my first meal of 2020 and it brought me back to leave. Although I am Hispanic, I was as still new to this type of cuisine and I loved every bit of it. I ordered a passion fruit juice, a cheese empanada (which was huge), a shredded beef arepa with plantain in it (great savory and sweet combo), the cachapa ( a delicious sweet cheese and corn dish ) and the beef lasagna type dish. Lastly, we had the soup of the day which was an incredible chicken soup. We split the food between three of us and we were super full by the end. On top of the great food, we also had very great service!

Loved this place. The staff was friendly. The food was so flavorful and fresh. I ordered the vegetarian empanada which had cheese, beans, & plantain inside. It was a good size and very filling. The empanada dough had a sweet tang to it. I also ordered the pulled pork arepa and that was a hit as well! As for drinks: I ordered a passion fruit mimosa and it came with a popsicle inside of it. The taste wasn’t my favorite but I tried another drink: this coconut & rum frosty type drink and it was so good but it’s strong 😝 - I would highly recommend. And you don’t need a reservation, just walk right in!

I am on a journey to find the best cachapas in NYC and I didn’t expect to find the best cachapas of MY LIFE. 10/10 literally crying every second I’m not eating these cachapas. The dough is perfectly cooked and it has a good flavor and they do use Venezuelan cheese which some other places just use mozzarella. Their papelon con limon was mundial! The cocada was okay it was decent and the tres in uno was delish as well. Highly recommend getting cachapas here, best place in nyc so far out of the 6 restaurants and food trucks I’ve been to.
