Dekalb Fresh Market — Local services in New York

I came to the store today to get some fresh produce which was cool. The issue that I had is that after shopping around for about 20 minutes I needed to use the restroom. I am 8 months pregnant and I asked the cashier if I could use the restroom and he told me no. I asked kindly if he could ask permission from his manager to allow me to use the bathroom as i am literally about to burst at this point. Anybody who has ever been pregnant can understand how random you need to use the restroom sometimes. The cashier replied my manager is gone and you cannot use the restroom. I made my purchase and left. I'm not at all upset because I do understand some business have rules that need to be followed and I respect that. I just thought that considering my circumstances that a little compassion could have went a long ways. And for that reason I don't feel compelled to...

So unfortunate, but I would not recommend this store. But if you must, do not buy perishables from here. I’ve been here multiple times and have seen enough; repeatedly have seen moldy unpackaged vegetables, meat I thought was fresh (2 different times) was old and slimy, and dairy section items like yogurt are often out of stock or on their final days till expiration. I only shop here now for last minute or quick items that have a longer shelf life like packaged rice or tea bags. Sucks because this is close by. However, from the reviews it sounds like they have new management recently so maybe it has improved.

The store overall is clean aesthetically and has a decent assortment of items but repeated instances of moldy and expired food killed it for me. There needs to be improvement with back stock and floor...

The shop does stock organic produce and grass fed beef which I don’t believe is great for the environment nor our bodies. The fresh produce is not very fresh, I would recommend to stick to non-perishable items only.

I had an interesting episode there a few days ago when I went early in the morning to purchase some bread. I asked one of the employees if the bread was delivered daily she shook her head and smirked. Immediately after one of the managers walking by said that actually the bread is completely fresh and it is delivered daily, and he pointed to several items that they delivered daily.
