Rocco Pizza is conveniently located in our neighborhood. They haven’t been our “go-to” pizza spot, but they’re there when we have needed a last minute meal. For starters, there have been 3 separate times that we ordered and found a 3-5inch long black hair in the food. This past Wednesday we had one of those nights where we needed a last minute, low effort dinner. We ordered a plain cheese pie, a Margherita pie, and garlic knots - nothing fancy. While eating the cheese pie we noticed that the bottom of the crust had a few spots that were super charred. I scraped one off and noticed that it had wings. There were flies burnt onto the bottom of our pizza. I almost threw up. Getting a hair in your food is one thing, three times is a lot though
but serving food with flies on it is disgusting. I understand that they have an open brick oven pizza, but for crying out loud they should always make sure it’s clean. We ate roughly half of both pies before noticing how “charred” they were. We are lucky we didn’t get sick after eating God knows how many flies. We will NEVER order from this place again, and I recommend you don’t either. Photos included showing 2 flies for reference.

Fast, efficient service--was in and out in under 5. Prices are pretty average. Always love a solid neighborhood pizza spot! The famous grandma slice was not available when I came in. Plain slice: Crust is crisp and flaky on the outside, stretchy on the inside. The cheese and tomato don't stick out flavor-wise...not necessarily a bad thing. It's one of those where all the flavors meld together into one tasty entity. Slightly more herbaceous than the average plain. Well-seasoned. White slice: See above. Mozzarella comes through very rich and savory. Pillows of super sweet, fluffy ricotta float on top, nicely countering the saltiness below. I hit mine with red pepper flakes to wake things up. Delicious! Sicilian: Generous melty stretchy cheese and sauce! Tomato sauce is neutral, neither especially tangy nor sweet. Crust has a beautifully oily crisp outside, and an airy stretchy inside.

we’ve ordered from them a about 4 times now and we’ve had issues with half the orders. Last time there was no chicken in the pasta with vodka sauce with chicken added (and yes i checked that it was supposed to have chicken) that we paid for. This time we ordered at 8:50 with expected delivery 9:20. We waited 20 minutes last delivery time before calling to check, as it was a friday night, and we were told that the food was ready but it just hadn’t gone out. Roll around to 10:30 and the food shows up PIPPING hot. Definitely JUST made. It would have been more appreciated if they had just been honest and said they missed the order and would prepare it and send it out. It was most upsetting as part of the order was for my 5yo son, who in the meantime fell asleep waiting for his mini personal pizza to arrive. Also the vodka sauce was extremely light, almost looked like queso.

Beware if you suffer from a food allergy:

I ordered two pies - one for me, and one for my wife. My wife has Celiac Disease, so she can’t eat gluten. We have ordered from Rocco multiple times in the past with no issue, plus the pizza is pretty decent.

I ordered my wife a gluten free pizza with chicken and spinach (a concoction I don’t like at all), and when the pie arrived, they had used breaded chicken as the topping. My wife cannot have the breading on the chicken (plus who puts breaded chicken on pizza?).

In any case, we were a little annoyed, but mistakes happen. I contacted Slice, the app I ordered through, that my gluten free pizza had breaded chicken on it, and therefore isn’t gluten free. I simply wanted my money back for that part of my order, as my wife can’t even eat it.

I was informed by Slice that Rocco said they received no special instructions, and therefore had “no idea” they needed to use breadless chicken. To be clear: THEY HAD NO IDEA THE GLUTEN FREE PIZZA NEEDED GLUTEN FREE TOPPINGS. Because of that, I was not refunded the $25 (gluten free pizza is expensive!), but I was given $10 back as a sort of... sorry, not sorry thing?

Long story short, if you order from them, and if you have any type of allergy, don’t assume the employees are intelligent enough to understand anything. You have to spell it out, like you would a 6-year-old. Otherwise, how on earth would they know the gluten free pizza needs gluten free toppings?

To be clear, I’m not mad at the mistake. Stuff happens. I’m mad at the lack of accountability and responsibility in the mistake which was made. It’s rather unfortunate too, since their pizza is not bad compared to other...

Middle of the road, not bade, not great. Tried to order online using the "click to order online" feature of their menu page. It wasn't working, so I called direct. Placed my order, was told "sorry, no credit cards for phone orders, if you want to use a card, order through Seamless or some other service" Gathered enough cash for the fairly inexpensive 2 sandwiches and buffalo wings, plus fair tip. Food arrived in less than 35 minutes (3/4 mile from home), hot and correct. I'm not from NYC, so I may have a wrong impression of "Buffalo Wings" but I expect spicy and doused in vinegary hot sauce. These were batter fried chicken wings, with a very mild spice, served with ranch (no celery sticks). Not terrible, but kind of boring. The meatballs were (according to my dining partner) flavorless, my Italian Sausage Parmesan sub was nothing special, one way or another. Both sandwiches seemed small compared to other xyz Parmesan sandwiches we've eaten, but for under $6 they were about right...
